It was a relatively warm day in the pnw today and opens my my sky but when I got home it wouldn’t close so I had to close it usuing my hands. After that I checked the rails and they seem to be pretty dry should I remove both panels and lube the racks and see if that helps or just keep it shut?

Lots of threads here about cleaning and lubing the rails. Worth a try. (I wouldn't know directly, since I have the Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof).

Otherwise, I'd just keep it closed, and avoid any risk of failure while open. I keep my sunroof closed here in Colorado, almost all the time. I hate to advise having a feature and never using it, but it is what it is.

Marek k this is true but I enjoy the sunroof

I’m going to get some white lotion grease and clean the tracks on both panels this weekend and try it again

So…..

So much for this weekend Walmart is open late and they have white lithium grease……

so I removed both panels and then wiped out the tracks and rails best I could with a flashlight And a rag and applied grease to both the rear and front rails.

then after doing some reading held down the button for thirty seconds and then up or thirty seconds when I got it closed so it would relearn the closed position and after three tries that seemed to work and also let me make sure that the catches were not broken on the front panels that go along the rail. I suggest this for anyone that experiences the issue where it seems like it is skipping or not closing all the way.

i probably won’t use it the rest of the fall and winter but when it gets warmer I may.

I'm just saying that, knowing the, um, fragility of the MySky system... If it was me, and I had a MySky that was closed and watertight at the moment (you're in the PNW, and winter is coming!!), I'd just leave it closed and not tempt fate...

Sounds like you're going to leave it closed until next year...

For whatever reason my MySky will open slowly (it will kind of "jutter" open) but close really fast (or just normal speed) without issue. Yes, I keep rolling the dice by messing with it.

The power portion of the Sunroof is the issue that fails, correct? Taking the panels out of the roof is safe I'm guessing?

As far as i can see it is the guides and rails that need to be kept lubricated. But it may be best to just take the panels out.

I have a 2015 Limited. I've gone through years of roof problems. After the last repair which cost me lots, I will NEVER open it again. I hate this. I bought it because of the roof.

this was my first issue and i no i said i wouldn't open it but i have twice or three times since i re-lubed everything with white lithium and it seems that it runs better opening and the closing seems much faster than it was before.

but we are getting into the colder months now and i probably wont be opening it that much if at all.

just because we have had roof issues doesn't mean you still cant take the panels out as that is originally what they were intended for at least that what i think.

(Disclaimer again: I've got the Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof.) No, I think they were meant equally for both retraction and removal. I understand it's a PITA to stow the panel(s). Plus it would really piss me off to have a feature that I couldn't use.

Still, if I had MySky, I'd either keep it closed; or remove the panel(s) completely when I wanted to.

It's a TorX Security key.
Are you sure? That would look like this...?
Rectangle Auto part Fashion accessory Metal Natural material

Because my 2021 U.S. Owner's Manual refers to and "Allen" or "MySky Key" -- i assume they're the same:
Font Parallel Rectangle Event Output device

That's not a Torx key of any kind.

The Owner's Manual seems to show that the key has ball ends, like this:
Rectangle Metal Font Fashion accessory Auto part

But that's just so you can hold the ley at any angle. Any Allen or hex key (of the correct size) should work f held straight...

Yes, the TorX is the key to pop the MySky hatch levers. The Allen key is emergency open/close the power roof.
