Hi
Ive only had my renegade since July and ive not had a problem so far with it. Since the really cold weather has started the exhaust is really loud! Ive booked it in to a garage to get checked but was wondering if its cause of the cold?
Please help....it had a new MOT in July
Thank
Simone

Welcome. I've heard that some owners had problems with ice buildup in the exhaust muffler. I think the remedy was to have a small drain hole drilled in the muffler. I'm sure you probably have some other word for the vehicle exhaust device that helps quiet the noise - in the US, we call that device a "muffler". :D

for one thing in cold weather the startup rpm's is around 1500 rpms, which will give you a louder engine / exhaust sound, maybe that is what you are hearing. goes away when warmed up ??

Welcome!

That's a good point from jeff1. If the Renegade is revving faster after cold-starting (which it very well may be) the exhaust should sound louder until the engine warms a bit.

Also, "really loud" isn't very descriptive. ;) Do you mean it's rattling? Or the normal sort of sound, just louder?
