First oil change indicator mileage.

I know myself as well as others start getting a bit paranoid waiting for the vehicle to indicate the first oil change is needed.

Just wondering what mileage you got yours at. Mine finally went off at 6305.

I'm at about the same mileage but didn't yet see any oil change indication. I already changed my oil a couple thousand miles ago but didn't attempt to reset the indicator.
I had my changed at 5000, no service indicator light yet. My plan is to do it every 5000 miles.
twigaman,

I have the 1.4L Turbo with the 6 Speed manual. In all my other vehicles, I have always done the every 5,000 miles. I talked to the service guy and using the full synthetic you are more then safe going longer. I understand many vehicles now are using the oil life sensor and it is more accurate now then previously. The warranty book says to use the sensor but not to exceed one year or 10,000 miles.

As part of my deal when buying the car I had the dealership throw in two free years of oil changes. We will see how that works out when I go for my first one.

I had the first service done at 6000 miles and plan to keep that schedule. Also, I have had numerous tire dealers over the years say 6000 is a good mileage to rotate the tires so I will get both done on the same schedule. I did not receive the change indicator warning.
dgr401,

I agree it is ideal to rotate your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.

When you go into your instrument cluster and look at the miles to next oil change, what is it telling you ? I have not had mine done yet as I am only at 2,000 miles. It says about 6,500 more miles to my next oil change. Based on driving conditions, I believe that number will change at a different rate, as I have seen on other vehicles.

I don't recall ever seeing the miles left before next oil change displayed on the instrument cluster. I will have to check tonite when we go out. I know there are different displays depending on the Renegade model. Mine is a Latitude. I will check.
dgr401,

I have the 2016 Latitude. It is in the instrument cluster on the third or fourth screen scrolling up or down. I think by default it shows tire pressure or engine temp. Once you get to that screen you have to scroll right to the last screen which should be the oil sensor. Let me know what you find out.

I just went out and checked, my Latitude does not display the oil life. Mine is a 2015, maybe it is a new screen for 2016. Anyone else with a 2015 have the oil life screen?
The screens that display on my 2015 Latitude are tire pressure, coolant temp, transmission temp, oil temp and battery voltage.
7362 miles, still no oil change indicator. No oil service screen on my 2.4 2015 Latitude.

My Trailhawk displays the same as yours (no oil life monitor). I have a January, 2015 build.

I have a 2015 Limted (9/2015 build date). It shows total miles, and number of days to oil change (based on driving habits, I would guess). The 3rd number it shows is the number of miles left to oil change.
Mine did not come on until after I had the oil changed. Changed at about 6900 miles - had a $15 off coupon.

It appears that the Renegade model or options make a difference. My build date is 2/15. Thanks for posting.

If I remember correctly mine came on at around 7,400. Should be due for my second soon, since I'm at about twice that mileage now.
Check the messages screen.

If you need the oil changed it will look like a big orange oil light.

It will also flash when you get in start your car.

Ours went off at around 7500 miles.

EDIT.... BTW the miles and days to service has nothing to do with oil... its the maintenance schedule for the rest of the car. Read your manual. there is preventative maintenance to do as certain mileage intervals.

Make sure you have the dealership reset it... ask them to. Mine didn't after I took it in for the oil change and 8500 mile service.
Everyone that is posting the mileage that the oil change signal came on, did it actually come on at the mileage indicated on the oil life monitor? In other words, did the next service mileage number go down to 0 when the oil change light came on, or did it still say for example, "150 miles till next service"?
First Oil Change?

I have just passed my 3k mark in miles and my salesmen who sold me the Jeep says I should get it done at this time, but I am looking for other opinions.

A little about my jeep:

2015 Latitude, 6 speed 1.4L
13-15 minutes drive to work on average.
My Jeep is telling me to get serviced at 6,700 miles (277 days). I just feel like that is a little too high.

When did everyone get their first OC?
Brought mine into my dealer at 5k and they told me I didn't have to get it done until I was nearing 10k. I had them make note of it, they said the new vehicles coming out running full synthetic can go 10k and be fine between changes.
