Can you get a vehicle from one dealer transferred to a local dealer. What are the cons if you can?
Having a car transfered from another dealer to yours is not uncommon. But bringing one in from 200 miles away may be a different story.

I imagine a dealer's preference would be to sell you something on their lot first, so there may be some pressure there. My dealer was perfectly willing to trade another dealer for the Renegade I wanted. It didn't end up happening that way, but seemed happy to do it.

Of course you'll be at least two-thirds of the way through your break-in period before you take delivery ;)

I see one in transit to a dealership near Dallas (I'm in AZ) that is fully loaded. Tempted to pursue it, as it has the MySky, which I'm now kind of wishing I would have ordered. Don't really want the Nav though....

My dealer was happy to trade another local dealership to get the Red Limited that I wanted but some of the dealers wouldn't trade. They finally did find one about 50 miles away and I don't know what they traded for it. So she had 58 miles on her when I bought her, instead of the 11 miles it would've had if it had been on their lot. There was no pressure to buy one on their lot because they didn't have any Limiteds AND....the dealership owner was the one helping me find the Renegade I wanted.

Not sure if I would've been happy to have her come from 200 miles away and arrive with that many miles on her, especially because I wanted to break her in myself.

I bought my current car from a dealer in Colorado. Online, worked out all the financing beforehand, flew out there from my home in Massachusetts, the dealer picked me up at the airport, drove me to the dealership where I signed the paperwork and left. Stopped at devil's tower, mt rushmore, and crazyhorse on the way home.

All on labor day weekend.

Easy peasy.

My closest Jeep dealer is 90 miles. Any others are 200 miles (Vegas) and 300 miles (SLC) away. Chances are I will be buying it in Vegas or SLC. I'm just going to make the drive.

200 miles isn't that far away looking at the bigger picture. If there was a dealer that had the model and options I wanted that was only 200 miles away I would be in the car and on the road.

How does one go about searching for a vehicle located that far away from home?
The jeep site will do up to 200 miles. If that limits you, just feed the website a different zip code. If you don't have one handy, hit up google maps, scroll over a couple hundred miles, pick a town, look up their home page for the town/police/whatever and grab a zip off of that.

I go to the Jeep site, drop down to Renegade & then to search new inventory. It will let you search 200+ miles. Can also choose some options to narrow your search. Lets me search nationwide.....
Doh, hadn't noticed the +. I didn't really need to search more than locally anyway. Last car took a bit of traveling to buy though, which was the last time I had to go searching far and wide.

Mine was picked up at another dealer to get the color we wanted. It had 190 miles on it at
delivery. Don't know how much of that was put on during the transfer. Most cars sold have
been test driven by people interested in purchasing a car. You still get a new car warranty.
I drove another car before they made plans to get the color car we wanted.

No problems with my car at delivery.

That's awesome. Great opportunity to break the Renegade in with a little mountain driving. I was at all of those places this summer as well. I love the west!
