A 'Frost Plug Heater' is just a low cost almost guarantee that my Cherokee will be on the road no matter the temperature. I've looked at quite a few Renegade window stickers and have not seen a 'frost plug heater' listed. To me this means a 'frost plug heater' is not installed in this particular vehicle. Or does this mean a 'frost plug heater' is not a Renegade option? Do any of you current owners have a dealer installed 'frost plug heater' in your Renegade?

hmmm that's Interesting. I never noticed that the Engine block heater / Frost Plug heater is not listed on the Renegade list of standard and optional features.

Depending on location, is it really necessary? There have been numerous threads in numerous forums about the usefulness of block heaters. Most say that unless the temp is below -5 Celsius/23 degrees it really isn't necessary. But lately there are times where the temp goes go below that once in a while and it might be needed.
Regardless I do not see it listed anywhere in the Renegade documents.

I live in Scotland where the temperature regularly drops bellow -5c and I had never heard of a frost plug heater.
Sounds like a god idea though. Are they powered from the battery or the mains?

A 'Frost Plug Coolant Heater' or some variation has in my vehicle as long as I can recall, I'm 80 and holding. Plug it into a timer set for 3:00 am, plug the timer into a wall outlet. Me and my Cherokee are ready to take on the day. Away from home, just take my blue(they stay flexible) extension cord and plug it into a wall outlet. Heater/defroster work immediately, an extra bonus. Been in -40(same for F and C) a few times, not a problem. Get in and go.
