Grinding/vibration/rumble Noise at ~30mph

Band new Trailhawk Renegade with ~ 550 miles. When driving at a steady throttle input at about 30 mph a grinding noise starts and then it appears to go away as you speed up, you can actually feel it, like very faint rumble strips. The noise remains when I put the transmission in neutral and let the car coast. Sometimes it will stick around and give a grind down sound as you stop.

This was posted in another section and I'm thinking it's the same issue;

The noise does seems to go away when switched into 4WD Lock. I haven't tried, but I will try next time I'm out slipping the car into manual from automatic and see what that does.

Any ideas? I'm thinking it is the transfer case.. Normal or should we take it into the shop?

Thanks!!!

My Dealer has had my renegade for over a week now, for the second time on this issue. I just happened to get a survey from jeep in my email today, so I filled it out, I also found a phone number, and was able to log a case with Jeep customer care. I suggest everyone having the problem do the same thing. Perhaps Jeep will escalate this to get it fixed faster, no offense to the jeep care rep on this thread. But after all if many of us log a case, MAYBE, the priority will go up.

I called 877-426-5337
I'm not sure why your Jeep is stuck at the dealer if FCA has acknowledged the existence of this anomaly, but does not yet have a resolution to mitigate it. Is your service department going to spear-head the solution? I doubt it. You should get your Jeep back and drive it!
Any new updates on this? Mine is going into the shop on Monday for what I think is a bad crank pulley bearing and to have any SW updates applied. I'm not going to bring this noise/vibration issue though.
no update, no change on the status of mine. still in the shop, next Tuesday will be 4 weeks, and two days total time in the shop for this issue.

That's unreal. I understand that our financial situations may differ, but if I were in your same position, I'd ask for the vehicle back and trade it immediately for something else. Hope you hear something soon...
I brought my Renegade in for unrelated service 2 days ago, but I also told them about this issue. The service department confirmed what @JeepCares has stated about this issue, that FCA is aware of the problem, they are currently working on a fix for it, and that they expect it to be available within the month. They will let me know when it is available so that I can bring it back in to complete the fix. They would not give me any other details on what the problem or fix might be.
I've noticed this at times as well in my Trailhawk, and didn't know what to think, as it seems very minor, and doesn't appear to have any effect on the driving. I will try the ESP and 4WD lock next time I feel it.
Tried the ESP trick and 4WD lock, both seems to make "noise/feeling" go away. I'll be sure to follow this, to see what luck anyone has with this.
Add me to the list with this exact problem... had my Renegade for three days when I took it into the shop, it's now been there for 4 days. Service center says they are waiting on a Star Case update but will likely put in a whole new rear-end. If it's a design flaw why bother putting in another defective unit? I smell BS. Love the Renegade but not with this hassle, may be time to request/force a buy-back from FCA.
I took the Renegade in for an oil change and the did an update. So far I have not heard the noise. I typically hear it every time I drive so Jeep may have fixed the issue. Everybody run in to the service department and report back!

Do you know what update they did to fix the issue?
Did you request/mention the issue or did they just do the update on their own?
Did you have any other issues that the updates fixed?
I did not request the updates but my service advisor used to take car of me at the BMW dealer and always takes care of me. There was a "Rapid Response Bulletin". Which said " DORECALL" and "Service must be performed" and "Program Drivetrain Control Module". There were also updates for the BCM, EPS, IPC, and PCM. I can not tell you what update fixed the issue but I can tell you today is the second day noise free.

I didn't have any other issues before so for me nothing else was fixed. I have the manual trans in a Latitude 1.4T. I did notice before the update that every once and a while when I shut the engine off it sounded like a diesel semi shutting down. It does not do that now but it could be "not in the mood" or the fact that I just had my first oil change.

Good luck everyone!
Thanks for the info, GSO_Kyle! I reached out to our engineers about this as recently as yesterday morning, but have yet to hear back. I know the ETA for this repair was expected at some point this month, but last I heard there were no specifics as to exactly when, so here's hoping that it has been resolved for you!
Well I was given my Renegade back yesterday and was told the fix wasn't available yet. If I find out otherwise.......
Well i hope they come up with a fix soon, the noise is getting worse, which doesn't give me the warm fuzzies that associated wear is going to be minor.

is there a youtube or other recording of the noise.
My trailhawk does not seem to have it at 800 miles.
People often moan about my ability to hear every noise.
For me it's a vibration when the vehicle is in 6th gear. Slightly less in 7th and 8th.

As I'm driving, the vehicle accelerate through the first 5 gears as smooth as ice. Then, when it shifts into 6th I can feel it because the vibration starts. It does feel like subtle rumble strips.

It's a pretty subtle noise/vibration. I don't think any armature recording devices would be able to catch it - mine anyway. That's why I don't consider it a real problem. I'd eliminate it, if there is a fix - but I'm not rushing to the dealer to have it looked at.
I'm not sure if I am thinking about it more, or if its actually happening more, but my new reaction whenever I am on a 25 or 35 MPH street is to turn off the traction control.

I might take it into the dealership just to see what they say
3,000 miles since the fix and the noise is still gone! Super happy! Press your dealers to do the update.
What's the update they did ?? You have an update number or code ?
