Hello all. Can anyone tell me where/how the Trailhawk picks up its extra ground clearance? Suspension? Body? I am wondering if the Latitude or Limited can be tweeked to match it. I am picking up my new Latitude on Friday and I would love to add an extra inch or two for the beach driving I will be doing. Thanks.

The trailhawk has different front and rear bumpers. The crash material under the covers is different as well.
The Trailhawk is also .8" higher due to spacers. There are companies in Europe already making these spacers as well as larger ones to set it up higher.

Your speedo will be out of calibration with larger tires. And, depending on how much larger you go, your to-the-ground power will suffer as well. Braking performance will suffer as well due to increased rotational mass.

Why does the ground clearance differ from model to model? Is it down to the fact the vehicle is 4WD OR 2WD or is it down to the size of the tyres the vehicle comes with? I've seen models which seem to be bigger than others for example a 4WD 2.O diesel limited renegade with 18inch tyres I saw yesterday.

True, unless you go wider, wider tires improve braking with more surface area on the road, but how much wider to compensate for the increased mass, I have no idea, maybe 235? Speedo will still be off either way though.
