Hello,

I have been looking into the Jeep Renegade for months and I cant wait to take one for a test drive. Of course the only one that's near me is the Trailhawk and I'm wanting a 6 speed one.

I currently drive a Kia Soul and although it has been an okay car it's time for me to move on. We get a lot of snow in CT and my Kia Soul doesn't do very well (never expected it to do) I always get suck going up the hill to my house, it's is a really though hill, lol, ohhhhhhh soooo close :laugh:

I'm a little apprehensive about the Renegade's pricing. What do you guys think?

I'm in CT, too! Am anxiously awaiting Renegades to keep trickling in. Unlike you, I AM looking for a Trailhawk, but have to wait, I think, because the one's that are in at this point are not configured the way I want them. Mainly white, black and red and I'm waiting for Anvil or Commando with navigation. I'd love MySky, but that I'm willing to give up. I see that quite a few dealers have one or two on the lot, though one in my area has about 11 or so, but again, not configured as I want it. My husband did warn me that I'd probably have to wait a while, but not too long! My current car - a '98 Dodge Durango is ready to give up the ghost, but I think I can baby it along for another three months or so. Good luck in your search.

I called a dealer in Willimantic and thy told me another 2-3 weeks and probably longer for the 6-speed manual. :crying: I guess I will be waiting for a while. As much as I disliked them, i'll have to admit for what they are, and the purpose they serve, they're great.

Are there any other vehicles you're considering in this segment? Honda HRV?

Add me to the CT crowd, also near the casinos. And we also own a Soul, a 2010+, which we love to death - we now have 85,000 absolutely trouble-free miles at 30 mpg. Amazing cargo space in a tiny package. Still gonna test drive a Renegade, even though the FCA position at the absolute bottom of every industry quality list leaves us a bit leery.

Anybody from CT going to the NYC auto show 2-12 April? I'd be surprised if they don't have open Renegades on the floor. The HRV will be there, though I suspect it'll be locked. And the 500X. And the Mazda CX3. And the Soul Trail'ster. It's a nice chance to see all the competitors under one roof, with no salesman looking over your shoulder.

And about your pricing question - see my thread on volume dealers that are already advertising inbound Renegades for $2,500 to $3,500 off list.

I can't wait to move away from my Kia Soul! The thing it's so loud, my 5th gear rattles, and is not the greatest on the snow. It does serve it's purpose to take me from point A to point B, it's an economy car, and great in gas. It's was also my first car.

I've always wanted a Jeep Wangler but at this point in my life it's out of my price range. I was considering a Subaru Crosstreck or just keep my car until I really have to get a new one. I really haven't looked into the Honda HRV, I'll take a look at it.

I had the 2010 Kia Soul + and trade-in for the 2011+ and I didn't have as many issues as I do w/ the 2011. I was told by both the dealer and Kia that the rattling on 5th gear is a normal characteristic of the car. That really turned me off from Kia. Driving long periods of time in 5th gear w/ a rattling noise can drive anyone bunkers. I was asked by auto mechanics manager if I was shifting properly and if I knew when to shift. I asked them to give me back my keys and left the shop.

The car show sounds like something I should look into. So many cars to look into.

One thing the first generation (2010, 2011) Souls were noted for was being generally noisy and kind of crude vehicles. They had no noise insulation.

Kia improved the Soul with a better engine and some insulation for 2012-2013, and it was a better experience. But in 2014-2015, they did a massive redesign of the Soul on a whole new platform. We test drove it - it was like silk. Quiet and polished, and loaded with tech. We found a volume dealer up on Rte 6 in Swansea - $2,500 discount the instant you walk in the door. Oh, and the 2016 is supposed to be adding a turbo 1.5 - don't know if that's good or bad.

Ours doesn't rattle in 5th. I guess every car is unique. If it makes you feel any better, we once had a Toyota RAV4 where they swapped the clutch once, swapped the transmission twice, and then told us it was our fault they couldn't fix it. I wanted to firebomb the dealership. As somebody who's served in Germany and had the joy of experiencing German auto mechanics - I can say with some authority that American auto service in general just bites.

Check out Falvey's in Norwich. They have them in transit on their web site as of yesterday. Should be there soon because they've been in transit for over a week now.

Make sure you give the 1.4 Multiair turbo/6 speed combination a THOROUGH test drive and compare to the 2.4. Especially stopped on a steep hill to take off on. Even in the Abarth the motors bog pretty badly in this situation so you have to really gas it to get it moving, Now add another 1000+ pounds and I could see that getting a bit worse.

Drove through Crowley Jeep in Bristol yesterday - website said they had 11 or 12 (NOT listed as In Transit). I was in the area anyway and it was early in the AM, they hadn't even opened up yet, didn't see anything and then, just my luck, saw a guy walking in (salesman? I dunno.) and asked re: the Renegade. Said they would be in tomorrow, which means today - 3/25. FWIW. Seems to me these guys are really messing up with their so-called client service. I'm supposed to be listed at two other closer dealers as interested in test-driving, but I've heard from neither of them, not even a status update, etc. And this guy at Crowley could've had a potential sale but didn't even ask my name, etc. Again, maybe he wasn't a salesman or....don't they want to sell these things? Rhetorical.

I will definitely take it for a good test drive. I'll check Falvey's in Norwich, is not too far from me. I just hope the manuals tramissions start coming in soon. I have a feeling since they aren't popular I'm going to be waiting a long time to be able to test drive one.

I really hope that wasn't a salesman. I understand that they aren't thecnically open but at least be polite. Hopefully you remember what he looks like and if you do business in that dealership than you know who is not going to be your sales person.

I'm in NJ and also decided I will probably go with the 6-speed, and I also want the MySky. I'm going to wait until next year as my current car is leased and I doubt I will be able to trade it in without some loss.

I've been playing with the configurator on the Jeep website. With all the options available, it's so easy to keep adding each and every one until the MSRP is over $30k. Then I started to really think hard about which options I really use often in a car and which are toys that I will rarely use and just have the cool factor.

I decided that I would be very happy with a Sport with the 1.4L turbo and 6-speed, with MySky. I'll most likely just change out the tires for some AT tires like the trailhawk has. The way I want it is around $24.5k MSRP. Once the Renegade starts getting over $30k, it doesn't look like such a good deal considering you can get an Audi Q3 or Mercedes GLA250 for that kind of money.

Keep in mind you do have higher gearing in the Renegade and a 6-speed instead of a 5-speed. In their review of the Reneagde, Car and Driver tested the 1.4L with the 6-speed to be slightly faster 0-60 than the 2.4 with auto.

Also, in FWD configuration the 1.4L Renegade is only 500 lbs more than the Abarth, and in 4WD configuration it is only 680 lbs more than the Abarth. It is 300+ lbs lighter than a Trailhawk.

Falvey in Norwich has one too. I had a call this morning that it was delivered last night. So you can probably assume the average dealer in New England is getting the first Renegade on the lot right around now.

FCA seems to be giving each dealer one token Renegade in the first wave. There's a volume dealer in Baltimore that has a half dozen in stock, with photos in front of the dealership sign. So they are starting the second wave in places.
