Has anyone noticed when they are driving at around 50 or so mph there is a slight but audible high pitched whining sound coming from the engine when there is only slight pressure applied to the gas pedal? I don't know anything about cars so I don't really know what this sound could be. Any help is appreciated.

I'm surprised I'm the only one experiencing this annoyance. The dealer said it was normal gear function but if no one else in this forum can hear what I'm describing, I assume it is not normal.

We may not have it, you may be describing it badly, or it may be so normal, simply calling it unusual makes us think you are talking about something else.

Equally it could be that is normal so nobody else notices it as a problem.
Can you record the noise and post it on YouTube or another site. Perhaps post an audio file on this forum?

The very post implies you believe the sound to be atypical for cars in genera and possibly the renegade in particular. I was not being literal about the actual phrasing used.
