New to the forum. Bought my daughter a 17 Renegade when it had 13,000 miles on it. Seemed liked a good Vehicle but never crawled under it till today to change the oil for the first time myself at 22000 and noticed under the motor was a little wet. Don’t know exactly if this is the transmission or what but the dealer had to see this when they last changed the oil. No signs of any impact or anything, figured its a bad casting or something. What do you guys think? Calling the dealer Monday.

Actually, after looking at the pictures again, it looks like @FiatPower is right about it being chipped. I have the same hole but yours is definitely more damaged around the edges.

I found the same issue on my 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. What was the diagnosis? Mine looks "wet" and it must have been there for some time without me noticing because the "wet" is gummy and grease like. I'll take it in to have them look at it. I would think if the transmission fluid would have all leaked out, I would have noticed transmission shifting issues or something? Even the transmission temps are normal.

Thanks but the dealership was going to charge me $150 just for inspection. No thx. I've determined the hole was most likely created during assembly when the transmission cover plate was secured causing a minor defect in the metal mold to shear off. The oil is probably from a previous sloppy oil change. I've now added this hole into my Jeep "features" bucket along with a few other features I get to enjoy while owning this Jeep.
