I 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 wear my seat belt when driving on any road and don't need the incessant chime to remind me every time I start my 2019 Trailhawk (push button start). It's bad enough that the UConnect stereo instantly blasts the radio when I start, but that's another issue.

I also drive slowly around my own property hauling hay and feed in a trailer, and shouldn't be 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙙 to wear a seat belt for that, or for the lengthy stretch of driveway before I get to the road.

All that is to say there should be 𝙣𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 about my seat belt safety because whenever I pull out of my driveway onto the road for the past two decades, my seat belt, as well as those of any passengers, will be buckled.

I've tried all the online suggestions, which are inconsistenct, usually involving unbuckling and rebuckling three or more times while in the Run position. 𝙉𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙙.

I haven't explored fuse or wiring options, nor if my Blue Driver OBD will disable the chime, but thought I'd reach out to the community first. Has anyone 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮 disabled the seat belt chime in a 2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk with a push button start?

Thanks much

Hi kwhopson,

If your vehicle is equipped with the BeltAlert feature, it can be activated/deactivated by an authorized dealer. Stellantis does not recommend deactivating BeltAlert. However, the BeltAlert light will turn and remain on until the driver and passenger belts are secured if deactivated. You can search more information on the BeltAlert feature starting on page 182 of your Owner's Manual here

I have asked my dealer to deactivate and was told they are not allowed to do so. I have the BeltAlert and would love to have it deactivated. Is there a way to do it on my own since my dealer has refused to do it. Or do have any suggestions?

I think it tests for shorts to ground.

Also people want to silence the annoying notification chime, not circumvent the warning itself.

(There are 2 wires leading to the belt fastener (Most likely requiring a closed connection... not a grounding connection to the chassis other wise 1 wire would be all that's needed )
Its worth noting that a ground only connection (to register the seat belt as fastened ) is more likely to fault do to shorting on the chassis or belt mechanism and cause a false positive. disassembly would answer this quickly)

(Wouldn't leaving the belt always fastened or using a "fake" not do the same thing? How would the computer know the difference? There wouldn't be any warning for that as well.)

Yeah, possibly

Personally not a fan of disabling the whole thing.
That little switch seems to be tied into other stuff like the handbrake release etc now..
Dealers should just disable the chime when asked. As was the case previously.
Disabling it used to add another menu item in the set-up to re-enable it.

I would be interested to see how and where the seatbelt is tired into the emergency brake ...
