Hi guys,

It all started with one of the alternator mounting bolts on my Tracker getting loose and causing the other bolt to snap under belt tension. It was going to be a cheap but time consuming repair (taking the left over piece out of the mounting bracket etc.).

That was when I called a lady (first owner) who posted her 2012 Chevy Equinox (with 11k miles on it) for sale on craigslist. The car was nice and the price was right. So, I could not pass. I gave in and bought it using the cash I was saving for my new Renegade.

Well, I'll be looking for a Renegade in 5-6 years. Hopefully, there will be plenty of them around then.

Did you ever have a chance to get to see the Renegade in person at the LA Auto Show?

I was going to make the trip to LA Friday evening and see the Renegade on Saturday but Tracker broke down on Thursday and I bought the Equinox on Friday. I kinda had to b/c I've been keeping an eye on Equinox/Terrain for a while as an alternative to Renegade and I knew this one would not last long with that low miles.

I could have rented a car and get the Tracker fixed if Jeep had announced the release date and the price. That way, I would have known exactly what I was waiting for and for how long.

After waiting months after months, there were/are too many unknowns. It was an "enough is enough" moment when I bought the Equinox.

I know I'll be a little jealous when I see the Renegades around. If the base price turns out to be less than $17k, I will feel worse than jealous :(

The Equinox is a very nice vehicle, it sounds like you got a good deal on it as well. I am stubborn about driving a manual, otherwise, the Equinox would be on my shortlist.
I may give up too and grab a '15 CX-5 manual around year-end.

Manual tranny and the convertible top were the reasons I have waited this long.

I did test-drove the CX-5 with manual and the interior room was very similar to Equinox. I would have bought one if a used one with low miles showed on clist.

I would also suggest Forester with manual. The new ones get good mileage even with their standard AWD.
