Do you have a manual or automatic?
I've had a few times where the auto didn't want to downshift (or didn't do it fast enough for my liking), I just kick it over to the manual shift and bring it down myself...

Take it back to the dealer ASAP. Ain't nothing this forum can physically do to help and being a new car with a factory warranty, it is unwise for anyone to attempt to fix on their own. You paid for a car that includes a warranty, now it's up to the manufacturer to make good on that warranty.

I'm bring it back to dealer this week .now i have another question i got my renegade in NJ but i live in ny do i have to bring it back to nj dealer or i can go to ny dealer ?
Any Dealer

Just take it to any Chrysler/Jeep dealer for your warranty work. No need to take it to dealer you purchased from. Good luck on your problem and keep us all advised on what the dealership finds.

You are not obligated to any specific dealer. The dealers represent the manufacturer and the manufacturer is obligated to make things right, within the warranty agreement... a legal binding agreement it entered with you when you bought the vehicle.

let me call my dealer.

This has been my experience, especially at higher speeds or on long hills. It just doesn't want to shift although the RPM's aren't crazy high or anything even though it sounds like it's winding out. This has gotten somewhat better over time.

My 4-cylinder 2.2 automatic Sonoma does this too. Simple hills it downshifts and revs to 3-4k to get enough power. Wuss truck.
Kenny,

Are you sure you don't have the shift lever moved to the left? If so, that is autostick mode. That will hold the transmission in one gear until you shift it or until the engine nears redline (or slows too much).

You can tell if it is in autostick because the none of the P-R-N-D lights by the shifter will be on but the - & + lights be the shifter will be ON. Moving the shifter to the - (forward) shifts to a lower gear and the + (rearward) shifts to a higher gear (within reasonable RPM ranges).

No the shift is in D plus if i moved to the left my front display will show the number .
Kenny,

Have you had a chance to speak to an FCA dealership about this yet? Please PM me your VIN, contact info, and dealership info so I can look into this further for you.
It happens to me on occasion, going to bring it to the dealer and see what they say
Happened to me today, then I realized I bumped the shifter over to manual.
This is the software problem Renegade is having

It is effecting over 5K vehicles in U.S. Hopefully there will be a fix by end of the month. Read following article. http://masterherald.com/2015-jeep-r...due-to-transmission-issues-reports-say/18431/
Hope jeep will fix it soon cos i love my renegade so much >:D

keep us update :D
I'm not sure about that article. The official line is that the Renegades were held back because of a technical infrastructure software problem around VIN's and matching them to actual cars, not a software problem with the car itself, although that was the initial report.
