Interesting Encounters?

So Jeep Renegades aren't yet too common out in the wild. Have you had any interesting encounters with people wondering what you're driving? I've not even had my TH a week and this is what's happened so far:

1. Grabbing some food at Sonic (a drive in burger joint) and the car hop brings my food out and practically screams, "I love your car!!" Then proceeds to give me my food then skate (they're on skates) around my Jeep looking in the windows. A bit odd but i laughed.

2. I pull up at an event where there was a line to get in at the front door. Everyone in line stopped talking and just stared at me as i parked. I got out, waved and smiled. I didn't know what to say. I later came out of the venue to find 6 people standing around my TH looking at it and talking. I spent 10 minutes answering questions. lol

3. I was getting gas yesterday (my first fill up!) and a guy 2 pumps over gets out of his huge 4x4 pickup, walks over and says "Dude...what is this? I like it!". That was kinda cool.

4. And the strangest. I was at a stop light and a guy in a beat up, really old Oldsmobile in the lane to my right, one car up, turns and hangs himself halfway out the drives side window looking at my TH and giving me the thumbs up. The light turns green and he starts driving... but is still hanging out the window, giving me thumbs up and smiling. I gave thumbs up back, pointed at the green light and yelled, "Drive man!!" lol

I have become acustomed to rubber necking, etc and don't even notice it much anymore. I still get a couple of questions a week when I am out and about.

I get a lot of rubbernecking, and I have had a few people ask me about it. Lots of people have no idea what it is.

I've had a couple truck drivers who were delivering at my work comment and ask about it. My coworkers loved it. Also, a couple neighbors had nice things to say. Other than that though I haven't been flagged down or approached about it - although I'm probably not in the friendliest part of the country haha.

I have had a lot of people gawk at it from the road, but the best encounter so far was at a gas station. The young man cleaning up the area was very enthusiastic about it, noticed it was an unknown new model. I said something like, "It's like a Mini Cooper version of a Jeep," and he said, "Oh yeah, It's got that same bubbly look and taste."

Yes, lots of rubber-necking, and lots of on-the-fly 10-to-20 minute conversations.

Had an older couple in a sweet-a$$ Corvette follow me into the Advanced Auto Parts parking lot last Saturday morning. Was off to do some quick tool-bag shopping while my boys were at karate, and then planned on getting some Dunkin'. When I came out of the store they were hovering around Lil'Red, taking pictures with their phone while they were talking to someone on said-phone (found out it was their son, in college). Never did make it to Dunkin' and barely made it back to the dojo in time for class to end after talking with them for almost 40 minutes, LOL

Sunday, on the way to a family reunion at my in-laws' a couple about the same age as us pulled up in an older Cherokee. The guy driving and myself talked about 10 minutes before the wives made us stop and move along.

Then that same day, while at the family reunion, me and all the brother-in-laws and cousins sat around checking out all the nooks and crannys of Lil'Red.

A lot of people have no clue Jeep even introduced it. The older couple in the 'vette referred to it as "the greatest little secret of 2015". Which only goes to show, the commercials FCA has been putting out for the Renegade are less-than-sub-par Jeep commercials. They should be showing off the drive-ability and off-road-capability of these awesome little beasts. Not wasting money on showing college-aged kids or rock-bands (nothing against college-aged kids or rock-bands, mind you) :)

I've gotten a lot of comments at drive-thru windows. Comments have ranged from "sharp" (the guys) to "cute" (the girls). But the general consensus seems to be that the Renny is one good-looking vehicle.

It's strange, but I think the Renegade is one of those vehicles that looks better in person than in pics. I remember more than a few comment sections for video previews talking about how "ugly" it is, lol. Now, I may not have the greatest taste in the world, but there is nothing ugly about this Jeep--next to the Wrangler, I think it's far and away the best looking off-road vehicle available.

I totally agree. Its a very unique, original look. I think thats why some don't like it. It's not what they're used to.

my wife hated it at first in pictures....but when went to pick it up...said it actually looks pretty good.
maybe a bit disappointing as figured with her hating it, she would never want to drive :)
Had one guy in a Wrangler ask me about it at local hardware store....he liked it.
People at work like it.

I took it to a family get together where recently the wife's cousins have purchased some new vehicles as well (kia soul, 2 ford escapes)

They love it, but I see something in their eyes. They were always talking about how great their cookie cutter new vehicles were. But that all stopped when they seen the renegade.

Like they are pissed that had they known about jeep renegades they probably would have bought one. Instead they drive around town blending into the road with their boring looking vehicles lol. ... Picking up chicks in your Kia? hows that going for you? lol...

I almost can't take the attention! I have dad's in mini vans turning into me try to look at it in the mirror. All kinds of people crowding in parking lots. Big grins from guys. Cute baby type shrieks from women.

Oh and co-workers decided it must have been a menage with a wrangler cube and Cooper at an Italian night club. Lol

1. When I went back to the dealer I bought my TH from, when my Fiance was buying a car, I was talking to one of the salesmen. He was like "That thing is awesome! If we had more like that, I bet we'd sell a whole lot more." We then proceeded to talk about my cargo basket and what mods I had planned.

I ended up talking to the guy who sold me mine, I had bought the only TH they had received at that point. This was about 2 months after I had it.

2. Two high school-aged kids yelled "Nice Jeep bro!" at a stoplight and asked me what it was. They then peeled out in their extremely loud muffler'd pickup. I think it was legitimate.

3. At work, we have a gravel lot, where my buddy ('07 JKU Rubicon) and I would park. Last week, someone else at work with a brand new JK Rubicon Hard Rock parked next to me. We are both Anvil paint brothers, so that was awesome. My buddy also just got a black JKU Willys as well, so we've formed a little Jeep parking area, which we have dubbed "Freedom Corner".

Freedom Corner! lol I like it.
Another funny encounter on Sunday. Three college kids walked by, i could see they were checking out my Jeep as i unloaded some stuff out of the back. One of the guys says, "Super rad ride man". I just laughed and said thanks.

I got ambushed at the Vet the other day.

Some lady with a pretty old Liberty like stalked me through the parking lot and when I parked she was like "OH HAY!!! I JUST NOTICED YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR I WANT."

Had an interesting conversation, some salesman told her it has "the power of a v6." I tried to re-set expectations and she said she was off on Saturday and going to check one out.

Pretty cool. I've always had fairly "cookie-cutter" vehicles. The attention everywhere I go is fun. There's always someone rubbernecking or standing around it when I get out into the parking lot.
