Hello everybody, I am a soon-to-be renegade owner!

I am ready to buy right now but I am waiting for a few specific options. I plan on getting a Trailhawk in the Anvil color. It must have the My Sky with the cold weather and popular options also. other options would be nice but those are a must.

I have owned one other jeep before, a 95 wrangler. Im not a hardcore fan who knows the xj, yj speak but I enjoy the ability to get anywhere I want. The renegade will be a perfect blend of off-road capabable while being practical at the same time for my daily driver. I already like the look of the forum and hope this place becomes a wealth of knowledge as other forums have been for me.

Today on my way home from work I saw this!

yeah i know they are blurry, I was driving.

this only makes me want one even more!

Welcome! I think there are a number of folks in the same category. Ready to buy - but need certain options that aren't out there yet. Hopefully we will all be spoiled for choice soon!

Drove a limited yesterday. I liked it a lot. I was expecting to know most of the features but was pleasantly surprised with the amount of foot room in the backseat. I was also concerned about cargo space but it was decent, with a soft floor that can be removed to ad a few more inches of depth to the back area or store the mysky panels without hving to put things on top of them

I got a renegade sales pamphlet that has descriptions of all the options in a cool book which was nice. The dealer said zero molar prts are available just yet and they can actually order a renegade to exactly what you want but only through the dealer with a wait time of about 2 months. That's cool I didn't know that

2 months wait time for Renegade is very optimistic. It is 2 months for Cherokee made in Ohio, I doubt it will be the same time for Renegade made in Italy.

I frankly think you would be lucky to get a special order in 4 months time, just a wild guess mind you. As it is right now some dealers are lucky to have just one Renegade on their lots. It will take some time for all dealers to have a good supply of Renegades of their lots. And I think that's Jeeps priority right now. I think special orders will start in a couple of months.

Regarding stowing the My Sky panels I don think they will fit under the trunk floor. If I am right about this then you will have to put your luggage of top of the My Sky panels. Suggest you pack lightly so as to not damage the roof panels.

It would be great if they would fit under the trunk floor but I've not seen one picture of them stowed under the floor. And for certain you could not fit them under the floor with a spare under the floor.

This is all the more reason to have a sliding glass sunroof and just luggage in the trunk.

As seen in this thread, they do store under the cargo floor. However, if you have a full-size spare like for a TH then they won't fit under the floor

Hi jae! I am also here in Utah and was wondering if the dealer was offering any discounts.

Thanks
Honestly I didn't really ask. It was a less expensive model and I told him right away that I was not prepared to buy the model but I wanted a feel for the vehicle as I've been waitin for months. The young kid was really nice and we joked around.

It was at the Layton hills jeep dealership fyi

How did you like the Colorado Red color?

I like it. I Wasn't a fan online but the red is a bright red like a championship red. Not a maroon or neon shade but just a bright red. With the black accents on the car and potentially red accents inside the car this color would mesh really well with the overall color scheme

This makes sense but the dealer (who admittedly didn't know much about the car) said 2 months. That seemed like a long time when we talked but given what you said I'm sure the factory is hard pumping out cars. That plus shipping from Italy will take a substantial amount of time I bet

I don't think that is the stowed roof panels in this picture. Believe it's the empty bag that the panels get stowed in. Once the panels are in the bag I believe it makes the bag too thick to then be able to be stowed under the trunk floor. And I believe it says in the owners manual to strap them down in the trunk to make them secure. You would not need to do that if they were stowed in the bag under the floor.

Everyone will know for certain if they can be stowed in the bag and under the trunk floor once they finally make it to the USA. Who knows when in the world that will be!!!!!

That is my pic from the LA Auto Show, yes, the panels ARE in there.

Well that's interesting to know. That's good news for folks wanting to have My Sky and room for luggage in the trunk. Was a mini-spare under that or was it just a tire inflator kit?
Just the inflator kit

Maybe you have already seen it but there is a slight outline or indent where the spare goes. If there are no panels and you can see the carpet of the lower storage area. I doesnt appear big enough for for a full size but easily will fit a donut. The model I test drove did not have a spare tire at all

I've seen a Renegade with the tire inflator in the trunk and have also seen one with a full size spare. With the full size spare there is zero room for the My Sky panels. They would have to be stowed on top of the trunk floor. As Cal Tom pointed out they can be stowed under the trunk floor when there's a spare tire inflator in the trunk. I seriously doubt they could be stowed under the floor when you have a mini-spare. I doubt there would be any room for them.

I believe you have a choice. Get the My Sky and a spare and plan on stowing the panels on top of the trunk floor. Or get My Sky and have no spare and then you can stow them under the floor. But who wants to have no spare?

Select option three, a glass sunroof with a full sized spare, if only that was available in the USA today!!!!!

My Challenger doesn't have a spare (has the inflator "kit") so I carry this:

After all, how often do you get a flat tire on the highway? My last flat was in the late 1980's. I have had a nail or two that I discovered at home since then just by luck.

Obviously, if you are off-roading, a spare is more necessary. For those times, just put a spare in and then take it out when you're highway driving.

The spare prevents the load floor from going into the lower position and it takes up the room where you normally store the "plastic" Sky panels.

I believe this is what the stowed panels will look like if you have a spare under the trunk floor. Plan to put only very light weight luggage on top of the stowed panels.

It says in the owners manual to clip them into place so they don't slide around and you can see the clips in the corners. I have not seen a mini-spare so I don't know if you can fit a mini-spare and the stowed panel under the trunk floor. I just know that there is zero room to stow the panels under the trunk floor when you have a full size spare.

And as Cal Tom advised you can fit them under the trunk floor when you have the spare tire inflator kit.

Pretty cool they add clips to secure the bag. Although this makes me think... Just put the panels on their sides if you need to put things in the back for traveling or off roading. Seems like a simple fix really.

My question is, I've seen the area that holds the spare and the MySky panels but it doesn't appear to be big enough to hold a full size spare. Maybe it was the angle but it was no more than 6" and a small spare donut would fit but not much else

Here is a picture of a full size spare in a Trailhawk that I saw last week. The floor cover sits right on top of the full size spare, which is why the My Sky panels have to be stowed on top of the cargo floor.

That's why the cargo shelf is not height adjustable when you have a full sized spare, just zero extra room for the roof panels. And zero room to lower the floor.
