The finalists for the World Car of the Year award have been announced, and our good friend the Jeep Renegade has made the list. It will compete against a pretty lengthy list of peers and the grand winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on April 2nd.

Here is the list of nominees for the big prize:

To say which will be crowed the winner is a tough one for be, but so far it seems like Mustang might take it, still, some great vehicles on this list.

At around € 100.000,00 for a V8 Mustang in my opinion it's not the ideal value for money.

I don't think that it all comes down to advertising dollars, but there is definitely campaigning that goes on for awards like these. Winning an award like this let's the car maker use that in all commercials in the future.

Apparently the altruistic automotive journalists of the world, whoever they might be, have banded together to create a monumentally unbiased award. Make your own decision on how much credence you allot to the very sincere prose on the website.

I can't help wondering if these are the same altruistic journalists who get a steady stream of test vehicles and all-expenses-paid press junkets to choice vacation spots.
