Never would have thought a Jeep would ever be compared to a Mini and a Fiat 500 but that time has come.

No doubt the Jeep will HAVE to be the most capable off road

But I wonder how they will compare in other ways.

Gas mileage, interior quality, PRICE

Its hard to say with so little known about the Renegade right now. I'm hoping that they find a way to make the Renegade more masculine looking than the 500 and the Mini. I can imagine the Renegade going soccer mom very quickly. What are the prices of the 500 and a comparable Mini?
Thankfully the Renegade looks like a real Jeep. Under it's camo it looks like a patriot with some slightly different design cues. It should be a true jeep.

Countryman All4 picks up about where Renegade 4WD prices leave off. It's good in snow and fairly quick. I'd compare it to a VW Sportwagen for speed and handling in "S" trim. It doesn't have the clearance of a Renegade. I haven't had a turn behind the wheel of a 500. It's slightly larger than a Countryman and designed for less "spirited" driving. No AWD version is available.
. . . I haven't had a turn behind the wheel of a 500. . .
I drove one to test the 1.4T with a manual transmission. Not only is it an ugly car, the split A pillar with the 1/4 glass is hard to get used to while driving.
I was in the market for the Mini before the Renegade came out. LOVED that car...on paper. Was just sooooo overpriced and the interior felt cheap. The sliding cup holders seemed cheap. The plastic interior felt cheap. Then there's the fact that they nickle and dimed you on every option.

Granted, it's kinda a BMW...but it was ridiculous. I went to look at it planning on buying one on the spot...but was so disappointed. In hindsight, I'm glad...since my new Renegade feels like my beloved Element on steroids.
