So if you want to stay in electric more, Switch to Electric mode. But be aware even in Electric mode it will start the engine if extra power is needed.

Example: for me, at work if the security barrier is down, it means a steep hillstart. And if I mash the accelerator in Electric mode the engine fires to life.
In Hybrid mode it fires up the engine even with a gentle squeeze of the pedal.

I tried that but it did not stay in the electric mode but my today’s journey it stayed on the gas all the time … it never used to happen before so I don’t know what changed .

It's difficult to understand what's happening.
It you are in Electric mode it should stay in Electric mode unless it needs the petrol power in which case it will automatically flip to Hybrid mode.

Also no battery charge, 4WDLock, Manual gearbox D mode and Sport mode will all start the engine.

Sounds like you'll need a trip to the dealer to look at it.

Are there any fault codes?

If there is any electrical problem at all, the system will default to the heat engine (petrol / gas engine). I had this when there was an intermittent fault with the parking brake harness.

OK, i had petrol only mode on my Compass today.

Message was that it was in FORM mode.
This is to burn off petrol that has gotten into the oil.
There are no other warning or errors. Just a quick message after hitting Start.

Blast up the Autoroute seems to have cleared it.

Car is due a service/oil change in 1700km.

I thought this was only a 2.0 GDI engine thing, but looks like the 1.3 inthe PHEV has this monitoring and "refresh" mode too
