Not sure if this is new to the Chrysler Uconnect system or not, but here we go:

Amsterdam, 9 September, 2014 – TomTom (TOM2) has today announced a deal with Jeep to integrate its industry leading turn-by-turn navigation and maps into the Uconnect™ 5" Radio Nav infotainment system of the new Jeep Renegade line.

I have had hand held tom tom GPS units before and have been pleased with them, so hearing this news is great to me!

Here is some clarity on TomTom vs Garmin:

Navigation system maker TomTom has announced that the Jeep Renegade would use its system.

While Chrysler (and therefore Jeep) uses Garmin systems, Fiat relies on TomTom. Since the Renegade and Fiat 500X are both made at an Italian Fiat factory, using the TomTom for both likely drove down costs and made manufacturing easier. Thanks, Erik Latranyi

I have a Tom Tom system in my Mazda CX-5 and the Uconnect with the Garmin system in my Dodge Dart. As far as the nav functions, both systems have been flawless.

As far as the hands free and VC commands go, no contest, Uconnect is 1000% better then the Mazda system.

Well they say fro the unconnect 5. Which would be the base head unit by fiat/MS. The bigger one is supposed to be the older chrysler uconnect system.

We'll see what reality brings.
