Hello all, I've been lurking around the forums for a couple weeks and figured I might as well join. Like many of you, I'm eagerly awaiting the US launch. Between my wife and I we've had a 2000 Cherokee, 2004 Grand Cherokee and 2007 Commander. We recently just purchased a Chevy Suburban, and since we don't need another large SUV the Renegade seems like it would be the perfect second car for us to replace the Toyota I'm no primarily driving.

That's quite a nice list of american SUV's to have owned.

What model of Toyota do you guys currently own that you're looking to replace with the Renegade?
We picked up a Prius back in the Spring as I was doing a ton of driving for work. About a month ago I accepted a promotion and am not driving anywhere near as much, so we started looking at small SUV's again as we both prefer them to a car. I don't necessarily mind the Prius, and it was great for what I needed it for, but the Renegade is definitely more in my wheelhouse.

Welcome aboard, Karl. I live in northern Manhattan, and your lovely state is frequently my pit stop on the way to Cape Cod. And I now prefer Providence over Beantown, and I was born in Beantown.

I think you are leaning towards an excellent choice. I am lucky to get a press pass to the NY Auto Show, and I think the Renegade is going to be the first new vehicle I will sit in two years in a row without having driven it. It's a pity about the delay, but I think it will be a hit amoung middle-aged consumers when it is released. For those who would otherwise buy a Fit, Soul, Juke, or xB, the Renegade is a much more appealing choice, and will go more places.

And knowing how Jeep is into special editions, I think this time next year is going to bring some very colorful and creative Renegades.

Welcome Karl!

Never driven on a beach before. I think of off roading as mud or hills, but sand could be a lot of fun too.
It is alot of fun until you fall asleep on the beach while high tide rolls in around your Suzuki Samurai. With only 70hp for 4WD, the ones who help push become fast friends.

Just another perk of being in the 4WD community.

:D
