I have not owned a new Jeep since 2001, and I know in 2008 Chrysler rolled out that lifetime limited power train warranty. It's only about $1,000 with a $100 deductible. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it a true lifetime warranty? I figured with the reliability of Jeep, I am absolutely not buying the Renegade without extending the basic warranty, but I'm wondering if extending the power train to lifetime for $1,000 is worth it? I plan on having the Jeep for about 6-8 years, however I'm really really pushing it with my budget so it's not just one of those "might as wells" if it's not going to be worth it.

I have owned Jeeps and Fiats and there is not a snow balls chance in **** I would buy one with out an extended warranty with the time period you are thinking of owning it.

My turn around period is 4- 5 years but I put 25,000 miles on my cars every year so I burn through the standard warranty pretty quick.

I planned on upgrading the basic/bumper to bumper to 7yrs, which is $2800 with a $100 deductible. I just didn't know if the lifetime power train was really worth it or if it really even covered everything

If you are only going to keep it for seven or even eight years I would go with the seven. Powertrain covers everything but wear and tear items like the clutch.
