Alright so I recently bought a Trailhawk and I love it. But, around 350 miles, my locks stopped working. The beep to notify the locking, lights, everything else was fine except the actual locking/unlocking of the vehicle. I took it to the dealer and they said the main electrical unit was malfunctioned. So they had it for two weeks and everything was good. Now around 700 miles, the SAME problem happened again.
Has this happened to anyone else? Or did I just get the lucky draw...
Thanks for your responses in advance!

Renegade door lock issue

Just an FYI if you own a new Renegade Trailhawk:
Do not hold the door lock button down (on the remote or interior) for an extended time.

If you do, the door lock relay will become stuck and unresponsive. The only way to resolve the issue is to take your Renegade into the dealership.

My Renegade Trailhawk is only 5 days old now. Its door locks were behaving nutty yesterday and just stopped working altogether today. I had to take two hours out from work to drive into the dealership so they could reset the door controller manually. From the description by the shop manager, it sounds like a bug in the firmware to me. I hope they release an update or a patch for it. The amount of time for a button press to freeze up the door lock relay is unknown but I am not going to try and recreate it.

Love my Renegade so far, but I hope this is the only issue I run into.

On some of my other cars I've owned, holding that down was the start sequence to mating additional key fobs to the car. I wonder if that's true for the Renegade as well? If so, we'll just need to know what the proper sequence is so that you can take it out of the programming mode.

Just happened to my Latitude. Central locks stopped working and this morning when I locked it using the key the lock in the driver's door just fell out (!). Luckily there's plenty of Jeep dealers in NJ so I can take it to the earliest appointment available.

As a parent of a 1 year old, that is a terrifyingly probable issue.

I am also an owner of a 2015 Renegade Latitude. My locks were working fine until a few days ago my passenger side lock would not switch from locked to unlocked when I hit the unlock button. It is jammed and rattles now when I click the unlock button on my fob. I have yet to call the dealership(been super busy) but sounds like I am not the only one with this problem. I hope its a quick fix because I love my new jeep!

This thread concerns me. I've had my Renegade Trailhawk for almost a month and I could have sworn that my doors have unlocked themselves several times. The first few times I blamed myself for forgetting to lock the doors, but it has happened too many times now. After seeing this thread I am going to take it to the dealership. This is potentially a life-threatening issue or at the very least could make it easy for a thief to get in my car.

Update/Clarification (since I can't figure out how to edit a post)

I am still waiting on the dealer to setup an appointment time to have my locks reprogrammed. I called yesterday, but haven't yet heard back. In the meantime, I wanted to see if disconnecting the battery works and it does (kind of). I disconnected the negative from the battery, as the positive seems a little more involved. It did allow the locks to start working; however, once I locked and unlocked the vehicle 2 times each way, it stopped working. I repeated the process and same result. The final time I did it only once to confirm, turned it on for a bit and now letting it sit, thinking maybe that is the magic part.

For clarification, the lock issue has affected the following:
- Key remote unlock/lock not working (though it does send the honk signal for locking)
- Door lock/unlock buttons not working (you have to manually flip the switch for each door)
- Locks to not automatically engage when driving (safety issue here as I have kids)
- The trunk; however, is not affected and locks/unlocks with the key remote (not sure if the door lock buttons do the same).
