I cannot believe how little has been done to the 2018 Wrangler, and what has been done moves it squarely toward looking like the Renegade. After all their denigration, insults, and ostracizing of us as Jeep owners, their ride now looks like ours.

I was thinking about a wrangler, but now I'd wait to shoehorn a 2.0L turbo in my Renegade.

So far for 2018 I see Wrangler copying our: Taillights, speedo electronics cluster, electric steeering? and laughingly, the electronic 4x4 setup..

Any body add to that list?

Oh dear. That 2.0l is a full blooded Italian, FPT Alfa Engine.

So the new JL won't be a "real" Jeep if it's not
100% American. According to some.

LOL.

(Nice engine though. ;))

I really don't understand Renegade owners giving a sh*t about wrangler owners might have to say about the Renegade. I live in a major city so I've never experienced "wrangler hate" but I really don't get it.

Does anyone know, do Cherokee or Compass owners have forums where they talk about Wrangler owners hating on them?

How about other car companies like Ford or something, do they have a top of the line model and anything else made by ford gets dissed?

Might just be a Jeep thing though since there are so few models.

Both my Dad and brother in law have had Wranglers for a long long time. When we were first looking to buy a new car, I made many considerations and after a lot of research we bought the Renegade. It really makes no sense for my girl and I to drive a Wrangler at all right now. 95 % city driving. We both share the 1 vehicle.

That being said, the plan was and is to stick with the Renegade for 5 years, and then the two of us will get our own cars, mine will be a Wrangler. Why? Because the wrangler is an awesome vehicle. So many mods available for travel and practicality (I'm not a macho style huge wheels guy) I like practicality and adventure and I know that the Wrangler, given proper care, will outlast a Renegade.

As of right now I love love love the Renegade! It's the best vehicle I've ever owned. I've had it for 5 months now and every time I get in it I'm excited as hell to drive!

In August 2018 my girl and I will be driving from Toronto to the Black Hills, SD, down through Moab and Monument Valley, over to Santa Fe and El Paso, through San Antonio and New Orleans, up to Memphis and through Nashville and then home. 1 month trip with Renegade! Roof Top Tent! Gonna be so great.

I'm a photographer, I have a lot of planning to do for each stop and stops along the way. When we do the trip, I may start a thread here on the forum and update as the trip progresses.

Anyways, cheers guys

There is no actual wrangler hate in this forum.

Some people post in threads here trashing the Renegade and lauding the Wrangler as if the two different vehicles are supposed to be directly comparable.

Then they get upset and call it "Wrangler hate" when anyone points out the Wrangler has a long history of fails and recalls, not to mention the obvious terrible gas mileage, terrible ride quality, expense, etc.

Thats what gets me about Wrangler owners who say the Renny isnt a true "jeep"...if you think about it the renegade is closer in spirit to the original 1940s military Jeep than what the modern Wrangler is. the OG was a tiny little 4 banger that Soldiers beat the snot out of it and made it do thing that it shouldnt!....I'm sure renegade owners will do the same ;). Matter of fact old Wrangler owners disowned Cherokee owners when they first came out.

This is false. The Hurricane is mostly a Chrysler design. The block is based on the Tigershark.
