Manual trans in the US

10178 Views 20 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  MJAB
I have been searching forums all night trying to find the answer. Does anyone know if the manuals are even being shipped to the us yet? I have done the search on the jeep website but not a single one comes up with the 1.4 engine. I'm not in the market for a car immediately but my husband and I are thinking in the next 6-9 months. I really want a manual trans with the my sky option. Just wondering if anyone has seen a manual.

No manual transmission cars have been reported in the U.S.A. thus far. Apparently, the first batch of ~3,000 cars that arrived in early April were all automatics. I would guess that a small percentage of the next batch of Renegades will include the manual.
Dealership in Frisco, Texas (Dallas Area) has 3 on the lot they received this week. Looks like they are starting to show up. Now all we need is MySky.

Which dealership? I live near Dallas
Frisco Jeep has a bunch of them listed on their web site as bring manual transmissions? However when you click on the pictures you can then see that they are all automatics. And they all have the larger 2.4 engine. I guess they just can't tell the difference between an automatic and a manual. I also guess that they don't know that the manuals only come on the smaller engines. And beware, they are dying to get your name, phone number and email address.

I have a deposit on a manual Latitude - it is expected to arrive at my dealer in about two weeks. So, yes, a few are on the way :).

It's about time
I don't think even automotive publications got to get their hands on a manual version, if thats actually the case we should also get some reviews from them as well.

TFL tested a Sport 4X4 with the 1.4T/6-speed.

The review of the Sport model starts at 12:25.

I keep searching auto-trader and cars.com for 1.4L/6sp Renegades. On cars.com, it does come up with 22 matches. However, when you look at the results, most of those list the 2.4L engine. So I assume those are actually automatics. There are about 5 that show the 1.4L engine, however. The dealerships are Edd Kirby's Adventure Mazda in Chattanooga, TN and Opelika Ford in Opelika, AL. I'm dubious that these are legit. Anyone close by?
The tide seems to be changing. When I search cars.com now for manual transmission Renegades - and filter based on a key word of "1.4L", I now get 29 matches across the country. Most are FWD, and nothing anywhere near Denver - but it looks promising, finally. I can't wait to test drive the 1.4L Turbo / 6 speed - and compare it to the 2.4L Auto. After that, I may go the special order route to get the right mix of options and colors.
Hi, we have had a 1.6 turbo diesel six speed manual for two weeks now ,here in the UK , and it is a great car to drive with a punchy engine.

A bit more digging on some of the aforementioned search hits... When looking at the dealer's inventory on their web sites, if they do list any 1.4L Manual Renegades, they say "In Transit". So that could mean they're on a boat - or on trucks heading to dealers. But again, at least they are showing up on dealer's web sites finally.

I SOOOOO wish they would sell that drivetrain (or the 2.0L Turbo Diesel) here in the US. Maybe someday. As others have mentioned, the 2.0L Turbo Diesel is referenced on the US Renegade Mopar parts list. So I'm not sure what that means.

I just ordered my Orange Latitude 4X4 with manual/1.4T with Power My Sky and they are saying maybe 4 months until delivery. It's encouraging to hear they are on the way already. Maybe the Power My Sky is adding some extra time for ours.

It looks like the below 1.4L/Manual Renegade is actually on the ground at a dealership in Madison, Ohio. Not anywhere near me - but there's hope. A local dealership here in the Denver area lists one "In Transit" - and it's a 4x4...

I hear the 1.4L engine requires premium gasoline. Has anyone else heard this?

Yes.

With many details.

But only for those willing to use the search box to find the thread where it was discussed.

Tip, add the word temperature to your search.
I just wanted to report that we just got in our first manual 4x4 Latitude Renegade in today. Nice to have it on the lot!

Hello,
I just brought home today a Glacier Latitude 4x4 with the 1.4L and 6-speed manual. Liked it so much on the test drive I didn't even want to try the automatic. It was the only manual on the dealer lot (of 15) in Columbus, Ohio, and I was the only one to test drive it. Still breaking it in but I really like it so far, pretty smooth. A couple drawbacks to the manual version: only16-inch wheels are available and the owners manual says "towing not recommended."
