Looking for some advice, please (Renegade Longitude, 1.6 diesel manual):

A month ago my Renegade went for servicing to rectify a squeak in the central console, which turned out to be loose transmission cables rubbing against each other. The cables were tightened and the squeak has gone.

Since then (and this could be entirely psychological), but I feel that the gear shift in general is much stiffer with a noticeable jerk between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, unless I release the clutch incredibly slowly, or unless I change at around 2,500 rpm (I'm used to changing around 2,000 rpm).

For reference, I've just under 3,000 miles on the clock, so it should be well and truly broken in now, right?

Do you think it's just a case of still learning the quirks of the car and adapting my driving style, or would it be worth having it checked out?

Thanks in advance!

My first guess is that in the attempt to fix the cable(s) to prevent the squeak, they inadvertently pulled one of them too far and kinked it. Take it back and let them relax the cable(s) just a bit so long as they don't rub and cause squeaks again.
