Media button not working

6832 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  skoterbay
Just picked up my Renegade Limited today. The salesman helped me set up my bluetooth in the media button. It was working fine for about an hour. I know how to pair a phone and my phone is pairing to it but when I touch the media button, nothing happens. Everything is connected but nothing plays in media mode. After 30 seconds or so, FM radio starts to play again. Frustrated right off the bat.

Here is a picture of what the screen looks like. Is there a firmware update that may need to be installed?

Sometimes i have to change devices or source.. have you checked to see if maybe your phone deleted the connection or if you merely have to change device
I found that it would only play files that were on my phone and not on the sd card in my phone... like it would play all the google maps audio files, it sounded like my renegade had turrets....

I did run into an issue where my phone wasnt pairing after it was already paired. I just deleted it from the memory of bluetooth devices from both my phone and the car and started over again fresh. No issues since...

The only source it shows available is Bluetooth. Uconnect is visible and paired with my phone. Before this happened the media/Bluetooth screen displayed the same song info for 3 songs, like it froze up there. Then it just stopped working. Looks like a trip back to the dealer for me.

I am only playing Spotify thru Bluetooth. I deleted and reconnected the phone and car multiple times. Other music apps are also not working. I'll try again tomorrow after the car has been off overnight.
before going to the dealer, try using another phone. it might just be your phone?
Update: now it is miraculously working again. Must have had to leave the car for a period of time. Strange.

I guess it would have worked, shutting down the phone for some time and then reconnecting ..
That's been my problem and my solution. Usually takes about a minute for the car to recognize the media. Which is just strange, in comparison to every other vehicle I've used that takes about 10 seconds at most. One more quirk that I'm still getting used to!
