My Renegade was delivered last Friday, since then I drove 600 km ( 375 miles) there’s only one thing I can say, I LOVE IT! The behaviour on the road is nice for a SUV. You feel confidant, driving thru high way curves at a speed of 130 km/u ( 80 miles). The way they made the interior is very good, no strange sounds, no ugly mistakes,…I found just one little thing, the cars have been transported to the North of Europe by train. On the roof there are a few spots of hot metal from the overhead wire. There just very small spots, for me it’s not a big deal. I’ve waxed my car and gave the spots a little extra attention. The leather interior is nicely done, no mistakes they did a great job! The 6,5 inch display works nicely, it took only a little time to get used to it. Mp3 player with the USB stick, plug and play,…mobile phone,…again easy, just seconds,…clear sound in the car and clear sound at the receivers side. In the dark, nice blue leds light up the interior in a nice way (it’s a soft light) Then the 7” screen just in front of the driver, all kind of information is visible, with buttons on the steering wheel you scroll true, tire pressure, oil temp, fuel usage and lots more,… I’ve got the petrol 1.4 Turbo with 140 Bhp, it’s more than enough, the fuel consumption is 14 km on one litre, for a big car as the Renegade it’s quite good. I'm happy, very happy :D

So you have Summer Tires on it ... what Winter Tires do you mount.
I ask, because i have little Trouble with mine ... the Falken 215/60 96H i bougth make some howling noise wich is getting better after 800 km and i hope they will go to neutral Sound after a while ...

For example in the Soundfile i get up to 50 km/h, then press clutch and let him roll ... so you hear that wooowoooowoooowooowooow from the Tires ...

The original Summer 18" do not make any noise at all ...

Looking forward to your collective comments on tires - summer, winter or all-season.

My Opening Edition will arrive in mid-January and as I have never been a big fan of switching tires twice a year, I am looking to put on a set of Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S (225/55R18).

Here in Hungary we get our share of snow in the winter and occasional trips into Austria and the mountains of southern Poland offer even more. Plus the Hungarian countryside is full of opportunities for off-roading through forests, fields and vineyards.

As I looked at options, the 18" size seems to limit selection for other than car type tires but the Geolandar A/T-S offered a nice aggressive tread pattern that really sets off the Renegade.

These tires get good ratings on smaller SUV's for handling (wet, dry, snow), noise and tread wear. They do seem to suffer a bit in the tread wear and noise categories on larger SUV's but for our Renegades I believe they are spot on.

Will be interesting to see what others decide as their new Renegades get delivered.

interesting.
have you looked into reviews of these tires to see if they have a reputation of doing this?
I know some winter tires can really change how a vehicle handles and the noise you experience when driving.

fortunately my michelin x-ice tires served me well, just a bit a road noise, no weird handling.

that´s the problem the car is made so quiet you hear more from tires etc. as in other car ... those falken are not bad at all the have grip in rain and on road with this car the only thing is you here them at speeds between 40-70 km/h.

We just changed the set with a second one (same rims same tires) my dealer had in Stock and just the same ... mounted the summer 18" - sound has gone ...

So for the first winter the falken will do their job and next year i will look for an alternative ... don´t forget the car is brand new even the tire guys don´t really have the renegade listed

It's not just that. Anything more boxy where the corners are past the suspension mounts to the body are going to amplify certain kinds of noise. Mostly bass frequencies. Tire tread noise, especially after being passed through the body and sound dampening materials is going to be more bassy. Then you add in the fact you have this giant horking opening in the back locked out by a less than super tight tolerance latch and weather seals, and you tend to get more road noise form the back of the vehicle to begin with. THEN if you successfully sound dampen the front, you get to hear it in great detail form the back.
