What is this button
Looks like something to do with the Alarm and Towing but I can't find any mention of it in the manual

Looks like the deactivation button for the Batmobile's afterburner :D

To guess, perhaps it's a backup hazard sensor deactivation?
The alarm has a anti- jacking sensors, this button needs to be pressed to disable this feature if the vehicle needs to be towed. If you don't the alarm will go off as it thinks it's be towed away.

Thanks, I thought it must be something like
that
I never really thought about the alarm working like that, but that is a great idea. Annoying that the button isn't mentioned in the manual. You'd think that the manual would say what every single button in the car does.

It's important to read up on if/how your model of Reney can be towed. Many must be towed on a flat bed with all 4 tires off the ground. Check it out now before you find yourself on the side of the road.
Okay, question time.

That button feature to disable the alarms' anti-jacking sensors is great and all, but what if you are not around.

Lets say you leave your Renegade overnight (for whatever reason) in a tow away zone. (We have many here in NYC). and the authorities come and tow your vehicle. That I know of, they don't bring in a flatbed, rather one of those regular Ford F-550 self loader wrecker tow trucks.

They may tow it a block or two away and might not do much damage, but they could also tow it miles away to the tow yard instead. Wouldn't driving that long without the sensor disable do damage?

Mystery Button

Just out of interest, where exactly is this button? Don't seem to have one myself.
It is in the centre console near the courtesy lights and sun roof switches

No. It's just a button to disable the tow alarm. It'd just make noise all the way there 'till it times out.
I've got this too, it just flashes 5 times when the car's off, does nothing when it's on or running.
But there's nothing to say the feature is engaged on not. Is that right?
Mystery button ?

I've owned my Renegade Longitude for almost 8 hours now :)D) and have a small query.
On the interior light control panel is a button which appears to show the vehicle with a tow hook behind it and the word 'off' , I've scoured the manual and as yet cannot find what this actually turns off ?

Can someone enlighten me ?

Cheers,
Peter.....

There is a thread here somewhere about it.
I think it may turn off the alarm for when the car needs to be towed or transported.
Thanks for the pointer. Indeed, the other thread advises that this is to disable the 'ant jacking' feature of the alarm during vehicle recovery.

tnx
Peter.....
