New Desert Hawk Owner! Mopar HID Question??

Greetings All! As of this upcoming Friday, I will take ownership of a new 2017 Renegade Desert Hawk in all black. I'm pretty excited. I had been dealing with my local dealerships for a few weeks and the ONE option I wanted was the Safety and Security package, which included the HID headlights. However, the dealership had a sharp nearly loaded brand new Desert Hawk in stock and offered to take $10,000 off of MSRP. Needless to say, I couldn't pass this up.

The only downside? I'm not getting those HID headlights (the blind side monitoring would have been nice, but i can live without).

So my question is this, and I apologize if it's been asked before (i did search!)

I know that there are some aftermarket HID/LED Headlamps, but I'd prefer to stick with MOPAR. Has anyone successfully upgraded to the Mopar HID's after the fact? I know it wouldn't be cheap (it looks like each headlamp is over $400). However, it's an option i'd love to have.

In my head, this seems like a relatively simply job, but I'm sure it's not. I've asked a local MOPAR shop about it, and they basically said that they can only advise me one what applies to my current vehicle.

Any thoughts?

Why would this get moved the special edition section...? Sure the Jeep itself is one, but the main question impacts any Jeep Renegade. Maybe general discussion wasn?t the right place, but special edition surely wasn?t the solution, as I doubt my question would get answered here. Perhaps this would be better in the Electronics, audio and lights?
Thank you both very kindly. The only reason why I ask about going OEM is I?ve heard of some issues with going the aftermarket route (slowly draining battery overtime etc). But both of you bring up some very good points. I?ll look into that one link.

There are a few different third party models you can purchase, but over I think the most trustworthy/best looking are the ones from OutlawX.

I would seriously entertain those headlights, but it?s very difficult to find a lot of information/ reviews on them. I feel like I?ve seen maybe a total of two members with this setup.
I have the reflector headlights like most of us here. And while whiter halogens are arguably the safest route (as in most legal) I have installed LED lights into my headlights/ fog lights. The ones I am currently running made a 5X difference in performance and are crystal white. Having them for 4 months now and one time taking them on a straight 12 hour nighttime drive from SLC to Washington I can say I'm quite happy with their performance.

If you do install LEDs they will all come with two lights on each side which is different as halogens have a 360 degree light beam. Most LEDs are around 320 degrees. That means when you install them you will need to have the shaft point vertically. It will look something like this...

( ) is the headlight
> and < is showing the light output from the LED.
(||) is showing the LED if the top is pointed directly at you.
( >(||)< ) this is what the LED should look like in your headlight.

If you do a Google search for 'Jeep Renegade LED Headlights' there is a link on the first page for a post on the ToasterJeep forums where someone gets into detail about it. The reason why the LED needs to be positioned that way is because the light needs to hit the reflectors a certain way to get the best lighting. I hope it doesn't sound too challenging to anyone as it really is simple. Just have the lights on the LED point directly to each side level to the ground.

If you're in the good old US of A then you will need H13s for your headlights and H11s for your fog lights.

I completely agree. I've been watching the posts about lights but hard info on compatibility and performance of headlights doesn't seem to be forthcoming. Using better (whiter, brighter) halogens seems to be the only 'safe' upgrade at present.
The struggle is real. I would seriously consider these headlamps, but I don?t want to spend over $500 for something that might not work as expected.

The photos that I?ve seen, they look great. But until I can see a few indepent, long term opinions on them, I?m not sure I want to completely remove a functionally perfect OEM part to put this in.
