I am a proud owner of a new (to me) 2017 Trailhawk. It's exciting to see the places this Jeep will go.

Real quick: can any of you point me in the right direction for a solid rooftop cargo basket? Specifically, I'm looking for one that I can mount or carry an extra gas can.

Going to be tough to find a system with built in accessory rails at that price. Here is a thread with a lot of cargo basket options.

You could also just grab a universal jerry can mount and add it to most cargo baskets. Or do the cam cans on the back of the liftgate.

The roof basket I got is the one from mopar 2002-2021 Mopar Roof Cargo Box, About 13 Cubic Feet Capacity TCBOX624 | Jeeps Are Us. 13 cubic size is already spacious enough for extra storage. But if your package would be extra bulkier I suggest just get the one with the net.

Imho, adding a Thule cargo box detracts from the rugged look that people like to give their Jeeps.

The Jeep renegade in todays market is about being different to the other crossover SUVs. It shouts out "Look at me, I'm different" and to maintain that look it needs a proper open cargo box with all the utilities on open view.

Adding a Thule box makes it like like any other ordinary car out there with people going on a wee holiday break.
