New Renegade from Buckeye Country!

Hello,
Just purchased a new Renegade Latitude 4x4 today in Columbus, Ohio. Glacier color with sky brown cloth interior, 1.4L engine and 6-speed manual. I was the only one to test drive it so almost all of its 39 total miles are mine.
Love it so far (with a couple minor quirks).
Feel free to ask any questions.

Congrats Ohio! I am right next door to ya in Indiana. I have a Mojave Sand Renegade Limited and just love it!!!!!
Hey Top! (32 year Army veteran here, still in the OHARNG).

I probably would have picked Mojave but the dealer only had one six speed, in Glacier. What interior color did you get. Oh and the Limited is leather too, right? I bet it's sweet, you should post pics.

Enjoy your car! I too have a Glacier Metallic Renegade and am from PA. Nearly 2,000 trouble-free miles so far. :D
Hello Tonym211! Thanks for your service, retiring anytime soon?? I retired almost 4 yrs ago with 22yrs and 4 months and retired as 1SG/E-8. Wow, 32 + years is a long time in uniform. LOL You are the Man!! Mine is the Limited model with blk leather interior, 40/20/40 split rear seats, heated seats and steering wheel, 6.5 radio with nav, 18" alloy rims that are aluminum and black which are really sharp. I like these rims better than the all polished aluminum ones. I dont have the blind spot, lane sense, rear park sensors, etc. My wife's 14 Cherokee has all the cool bells and whistles:) I attached a few pics, not the best but was taken in garage and sun was setting. Enjoy your new Renegade my fellow VET!!!!

Nice ride First Sergeant! Those rims are sweet and I like the Limited grille and of course the leather. Nice mats too.

I went active duty at 17 and got out after four years then went Guard and have been ever since, with 1 deployment to the sand. Definitely have spent some time at Atterbury and I even visited Ft Ben Harrison a time or two back in the day. I'm trying to keep going until I hit 60 so I can actually draw that retirement check! Only 10 1/2 years to go -- Short! LOL

My Renegade didn't come with any mats so the dealer is getting the slush mats for me next week. I have the 5.0 screen w/o Nav but I actually like the simple layout and the big buttons. I really really like the 1.4L turbo with the 6-speed, it shifts very smoothly and with the upright seating it's very comfortable and fun to drive. Wish I could have upgraded to the 17 inch rims, but with the manual only the 16's are available. Here's a few pics.

Take care!

Hello tonym

Hello tonym!

Thanks so much for your service!!! Hang in there and you will hit 20 yrs before you know it:) I have spent a lot of time at Camp Atterbury, IN, maybe too much time there. LOL Nice Renegade my friend:) I looked at a Glacier painted one, then black and ended up with the Mojave Sand. Not sure why that happened but guess I am stuck like chuck with it now.LOL

A co-worker said to me the other day, that color makes the Renegade look quite sophisticated. It's one of my favorite colors.

Yeah the Mojave is pretty sweet. I really like the Limited silver grille. I've read on the forums where owners are already modifying their Renegades by painting the grille, adding decals, changing tires and wheels, etc. Plus all the stuff you've done with the LED lights. I might need to take a road trip over to Indy and get some NCO mentoring on how to do the lights. :)
welcome to the boards, she looks crisp in glacier! How bluey is it in person?
TonyM211- wish I had your interior, that color combo looks really nice!!!

Hello,
Great question -- on the Jeep website the Glacier looks like it has a tint of blue, but in person it is pure silver with no blue whatsoever. I was disappointed by that at first, as Anvil is my favorite Renedgade color but it's only available on the TH. After I test drove it I actually asked the dealer if he had any "Glacier blue" ones, because I thought Glacier was different than silver. But since it was the only one with ski gray/brown interior and 6-spd I bought it. The Glacier is growing on me now, just wish I could add a little color to the exterior.

The ski gray/brown interior really blew me away, plus it makes the interior seem more open. In person it is a little more off/dirty white and has more texture, hard to tell in pics. Reminds me of a sandy beach.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Jeep will change up the colors and options the next few years. I love the Renedgade I have, but maybe in two or three years Jeep will offer the Anvil color (or gunmetal or other blue) with 6spd and the ski gray / brown in leather -- with a standard or panoramic glass sunroof (I don't have the patience for taking off roof panels, I'm not 25 anymore LOL).
I love the lighter color of your seats, but I'm afraid I can't get that. besides the Trailhawk only coming in black, it will get dirty quick even if it was an option. Shoot I have grey leather seats in my Hyundai and its hard keeping them clean and spot free. I can only imagine a lighter color. I don't have the cleanest and neatest family.
hmmm, maybe I should ban them from my car. lol

I wander what other options, interior colors, etc that the future Jeep Renegade's will have. I bet they will also offer "special editions" in the near future. My interior is just plain blk with the gold trim/bezels. The ski gray/brown interior is so cool and the orangish bezels and trim stuff rocks.

You have a Glacier Trailhawk, right? How do you like the driving/handling? I'm curious what the differences are between Trailhawk and Latitude.

I can't really answer that directly, but I did test drive a Sport 4x4 (first Renegade my dealer got). The Trailhawk doesn't drive that much differently, but it may be very slightly more bouncy.

With that said, I think the Trailhawk rides very nicely on the highway and on rough roads. I like it a lot. It corners well without excessive body lean.

Originally, I wanted a Lattitude with a manual transmission but I knew it would be a while before the manuals arrived. And I wasn't impressed with the test drive of the Fiat 500L with the same 1.4T manual (the clutch, gearbox, & shifter worked beautifully though). If I were to get an automatic, it would have to be a Trailhawk and that's what I did.

And I like the look of the Trailhawk better than the other models.

Thanks for the info. I like the look of the Trailhawk, too. I'm really enjoying the Latitude with the 6-spd, and it seems to be one of the few available on dealer lots at the moment (plus it saved me about $4k over a TH). Maybe Jeep will make the manual option available in a Trailhawk down the road, and they really need to make the ski gray/brown (or something similar) available for TH's too!
BTW, check your tire pressure if you haven't already. Mine was set at 43psi at the dealership, but the tire placard says 35psi. I lowered it to 38psi and it definitely took a out some of the stiffness. I'm going to check gas mileage with a full tank (26.6 mpg mixed so far) then lower it to 36psi and compare ride and mpg. I also put premium 93 octane in and it seems to be running a little smoother (but could be coincidence). Since the TH has larger rims and tires, I also wonder if it's not a little more stable feeling on turns and corners.

I've seen where folks are repainting or plasti-dipping their trim and bezels already! My main concern with the ski/brown interior is how it will clean up, I'd hate to have permanent stains on it.
There's a company in Hawaii called Wet Okole (wetokole.com) that makes skin-tight fitting neoprene seat covers, custom made for each car. I almost bought a set years ago when I had a Wrangler. Anyway, there are pics of 2014 Cherokee seat covers but they don't have Renegade covers advertised yet, so I sent them an email with pics of my seats yesterday to see how closely they could match them. If they can match the colors and pattern fairly close I may go that route. If you wanted to add color to your interior they have lots of different patterns, color combos, and they can even do logos like Jeep, ARMY, etc., right on the covers. They also make rear seat sets. The neoprene is supposed to be easy to clean and stays cool.
I'll let you know what I find out.
