I am so glad that I found this forum. I have been searching the internet, and pestering my dealer to no end for information. I did get his only Renegade brochure he had in the dealership. Sadly when I went in I knew more information about the Renegade than he did.
The salesman I deal with is also the manager, and he has promised me that when he is able to order he is going to call me so that he can order in exactly what I want and the color I want.

I have owned Jeeps over the past 20 years, mostly SJs, had a 06 Rubicon Unlimited and currently a 1999 WJ. Love Jeeps and was so excited to see the Renegade coming on the market.

Thank you all for providing such awesome information.

Welcome. Can you fill out the profile? I'm assuming you're still in Central Nebraska. If so, I believe you're one of the few that may routinely get to use an automatic's 9th gear.

Has your dealer given you any ball park as to when he will be able to order in Renegades?

There is a general lack of info right now regarding the North American model so you are not alone in searching for answers.

Profile filled out. One of my concerns with the 2.4 is power to weight ratio. I live 2 miles off the I-80 and drive it almost daily at 75mph, and being able to get to a decent speed in a reasonable amount of time to be able to merge with traffic, I need something with a little spunk. I test drove a Compass once and what a dog. I really wish that the Trailhawk had the option of the 6 speed manual. Our Rubicon had a 6 speed trans, and I loved it, especially off road. Have thought about test driving the Dodge Dart (which comes with the 2.4 Tigarshark) for comparison, but I am sure that the gear ratios will be completely different so would not be a good comparison to what the Renegade will be like.

Well a lot of it has to do with gearing, but the MINI Cooper S Countryman All4 weighs 3200ish pounds and produces 181hp and just about that in torque and is one of the more fun small SUVs to drive.

Compare that to the Renegade 2.4 which produces 184 hp and near that in torque and has to push 3500ish pounds. I am thinking that it will have plenty of getup'n'go.

Also remember that they use the 2.4 in the Cherokee which weighs 500ish pounds more and I've heard very few complaints.

Couldn't wait any longer

I bought a Ford Escape on Wednesday. I could no longer wait on Jeeps "when and if" it comes out. My daughter is due with my granddaughter in 3 weeks and was in desperate need of a better vehicle so she was due to get my Ford 500 when I got something newer.

I also thought very seriously about a first production model. I have been down that road and it sucked, so decided to give Jeep a few years to get the "bugs" worked out.

I will probably continue to lurk on this site to see what the reviews are when you guys get them, how you like them or the problems that you are having.

Maybe one in my future, just not this year.

Good luck to all of you.
