After five Jeep dealerships looked all over Utah and nearby states for an Orange Trailhawk for me but to no avail, I've decided to go ahead and place an order. I've really liked the salesman at Larry H. Miller...not pushy, has been great with keeping me up to date, has been just excited to finally see the Renegades as we all have, and even told me to save myself money and NOT go with the towing package (that I can get one from U-Hall for about $120 and will work just fine). So, if he can agree to my counter offer on price, he's got the sale.

Anyway, all 5 dealerships predicted 4 months. However, one of them today said they wouldn't be surprised if I got it in 10-12 weeks--that the 4 months was advised by the Chrysler rep as a cushioned guesstimate.

It's been almost a whole year wait. So finally...here...we ...gooooo.

Remember that a u-haul style hitch is an under-hung design. It bolts onto the bottom of the frame and comes out below the bumper--reducing your departure angle and ground clearance. It will be a serious "hang-up" if you plan to do any actual wheeling.

Also, the factory installed version will be included in the warranty and have the wiring. Just things to consider if you do plan to tow.

Trrruuueeee. Perhaps I should rethink.

Also, thanks miniJeepTV. Forgot about that aspect. I MIGHT be ok, as I'm not a total offroader--mainly camping and pulling an atv. I'll take a closer look at that problem when the Pops comes to town for me to get his opinion.

I know I wont be accessing ALL that the Trailhawk can do. But, being I'm out her in Utah where we tend to get a lot of snow (minus THIS year), I felt the Trailhawk, with it's higher ground clearance and better approach angle to possible snow banks, might be the wiser choice.

Well HERE'S a conundrum:

Just got a call from a different salesman with "GREAT NEWS!!" An orange Trailhawk WITH leather seats just arrived in the port of San Diego. Problem....it doesn't have the upgraded 9 speakers or the Nav system.

UGh...what to do...what to do.

The radio will be fine and you can buy a kick ass Garmin for a lot less. :D At least it's orange and has leather, while you decide 10,000 ppl are going to buy it.

Daaaannnggg you're good! You MAY have just sold one to me and saved me some bank

Just got an email from Dan the Salesman....he's actually driving one of their Renegades over to their audio peeps across the street to see what they could do with speakers and NAv in a Rengade. Honestly...I could care less about the NAV...cuz I just use my phone. I just wanted the larger screen. The backup camera was much better imo.

Buuutttt....again, you MAY have just talked me out of it and into a Renegade I could have by next week! Afterall, I've driven 20 something years withOUT a backup camera...right?

I have 2 apps on my phone that I'd rather use than any GPS, built-in or not. Waze and Google Maps. I've already ordered a ProClip for my phone and I don't have the Jeep yet.

I think the backup camera in the 5.0 is quite adequate. After all, how often do you back up.

Yeah, I realize you use it every day, but I mean you don't drive for miles in reverse where the larger screen will make that much of a difference.

Yep!...y'all have done it. Going in tomorrow after work and making sure that little ole Trailhawk sitting in San Diego becomes little ole mine.

Bionic...exactly...google maps and I already have a beautiful relationship. I shouldn't have let my eyes wonder ;-)

And, bwbike...you're right...I've driven 20 odd years backing up just fine with turning my head. A smaller backup camera is only a bonus.

Thanks, my Jeep Peeps. Getting WAY closer to finally being an owner than 4 months.
