So, that piece just pops off. (i used two flat head screw drivers, stick one inbetween the groove, and same with the other one a couple of inches away from it, and pop it off, work your way around it. takes 10 seconds.

Red plasti dip too... Thinking about doing this to some more things but with stickerbomb vinyl wrap... I'll be sure to post pics from that too..

edit: Fidlar rocks lol...

I have considered dipping all the "red anodized" accents as Omaha orange. I have ordered black neoprene seats with orange in the middle and found an orange steering wheel cover. I'm just not a fan of a red/black interior on an orange vehicle. Even considered getting Trail Rated and TrailHawk emblems and painting orange over the red (I paint miniatures). Last but not least, painting the tow hooks orange

Excellent! Thanks for the preview of what I plan on doing with my Renny-Lat, :)

I ordered a batch of supplies from DipYourCar.com last week...

I wanna dip all the little pieces like the console frame red, to go with my Colorado Red exterior.
I think I wanna dip the roof, the side mirrors, and possibly the door handles and the gas-tank door with Matte Black. Still messing around with Photoshop to get an idea of what it might look like, :)

I tried plastidipping this console while it was attached and just tapped up everything... and it came out like crap. So I peeled it all off (plasti dip ftw) and tried again popping it all off, and Im happy with it.

Id love to see what your rene looks like with the plastidip on the outside, Ive been thinking about that too.

Looks really good!
How closely does the red plasti-dip match the rest of the red anodized interior trim?

Please Do not dip gas tank door, that always looks ghetto to have a different color gas tank door, also the base model has flat black door handles, so you would be de-grading the appearance by doing that. The roof would look good though.:)

You inspired me to try the same thing after I had success plasti-dipping my chrome grill but I didn't have as much luck. I went with the blaze orange, but no matter how many coats I put on, I could still see the black underneath so I ended up stripping it and keeping it black. Oh well.

LOL... I must use that term at least a 1/2-dozen times a day... By right though, I grew up in the ghetto - so I'm allowed, :)

I was more thinking of the finger-prints and the scratches - plasti-dip gives you a nice matte-coating and protects.

I don't see it as a de-grade - anything that makes your vehicle more appealing to you is an upgrade, :) And again - fingerprints and scratches... I'm very ADD, :)

I'm okay with my entire vehicle being caked in mud, but dern-it if I don't have a need to rub off every last fingerprint and take care of any scratches. Go figure, :)

Yes, especially a matte-black - I've seen a couple other Rennys with the shiny-black top, and I don't personally like it. Plasti-dip will also help with scratching as I toss stuff up into the cargo rack, :)

Is Plastidip easy to use. All the pics on here seem to have a very good finish. I am pretty useless with a normal paint aerosol.
Yep, just mask off everything that you don't want to get plasti-dip on, then keep the can 7 inches away and sweep evenly, with a light coat, wait about 30 seconds and do another, and then put a nice wet coat on, wait 3 to 5 minutes and peel off your maskings before the plasti-dip dries completely while it is still wet. It is mostly self-leveling and thicker than regular paint, but you will still get "runs" if you spray it on too much in one area, but it is much easier to get an even finish than with regular spray paint.

door handles are high traffic areas, so the plastidip will peel and rip off easy with people constantly pulling and grabbing on it. Maybe just plastidip the inner surface on the door under the actual handle where most peoples fingernails put light scratches into the paint. That would look good and protect the paint.

ADD? Don't you mean OCD? Lol

imo, less is more when it comes to plasti dip... its easy to get carried away, but resist!! lol...

those entirely plasti dipped cars look ghetto to me too... When it comes to the exterior, Rims are okay to do but only in black. Everything else looks like you're trying to hard.

So far thats console frame is the only thing Ive done in plasti dip... I did buy some sticker bomb vinyl wrap that I plan on replacing the red plasti dip with. (if I can ever find the time)
