This is probably a stupid question, but can you play the radio when the car isn't running? I don't seem to have an "accessory" mode on the ignition.

On mine, accessory is push the ignition button in without the brake depressed.

You can also set a UConnect option to keep radio on for up to 20 minutes or something after turning off the engine (but it will shut off as soon as you open the door).

Haven't had the occasion yet to do this in the TH so I'm doing a bit of assuming...but in my GC, I believe if you hit the START button without your foot being on the brake, it will go into acc mode. I THINK! I know I did it, but can't remember exactly how.

For those with keys:

Set your radio to 20 minute shut of.

Turn key to just before it cranks over the engine, and back. Radio stays on for 20 minutes. repeat as necessary.

Turning it to that position will also turn on the radio, but it'll also run the lights and fans, so the above keeps battery load minimal.

I'm reviving this ancient thread because I just got my Renegade and I'm finding this bizarre too. I have a keyed ignition. It goes from off, to run, to start. I can't seem to hit accessory mode. Sure, you can set the radio to 20 mins and cycle the key as needed, but what about taking this thing to a drive in movie? Cycling the key would turn all the lights on too.

So, is there really no accessory position or am I just missing it?

No Acc position. Just push the radios power button to turn it on even if the key is out.

Really? I wonder how long it would have taken me to think to try that. I've never heard of a vehicle doing that. That's a good solution to not having an acc position then.

I just read back through and realized this had already been determined. Whoops! I thought everyone was talking about the start/stop button so I ignored all the button comments.

Just turn the radio on, that's all I have to do, no pressing the start button at all
thank you!
We got a Jeep Renegade in January, and the only thing I had seen in the book was to depress the start button without pressing on the brake to play the radio without it running. That didn't do us much good when we were at the drive in theater last night, and the instrument cluster and parking lights would stay on. Ended up borrowing a radio from the people who owned the drive in! Good to know there is such an easy fix, and can't believe they would tell you the other method in the manual rather than this simple method!

Unfortunately, what no one has told you is that it still goes off after 20 minutes. You have to keep turning it on again every 20 minutes, as there's no way that I've been able to find that will keep it on indefinitely. Pretty ridiculous, in my opinion!
