Maybe purchasing 2015 Renegade sport 4WD Tomorrow

I have just a general question:
On some reviews I've heard bad things about the renegade like transmissions, software and a couple other things. Should I be concerned and steer clear, or is it overall what it's what it's made out to be, a small, reliable 4x4 versatile enough for half way challenging off-road, and not completely a drag on the highway
Appreciate some feedback

Well some people have had issues and some people love their Jeeps. I have under 300 miles on mine and no problems.

I have seen almost every Youtube video review and it's the same, some don't like the shifts while others have nothing but praise.

If you love the Renegade and willing to take the risk, try to get the newest build date. The early builds could be problematic but then there are over 70,000 Renegades sold world wide which is a very successful launch. The transmission issues were more prone to the Jeep Cherokee and that started early 2014. It doesn't seem to affect Renegades as much. Keep in mind the Cherokee is much heavier vehicle.

Good Luck!

I've had my 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk a month, 3300 miles. Black on Black, Leather seats, cold weather group, keyless entry/keyless go (outstanding). Uconnect 6.5 with Nav, Blind spot monitor (awesome), and the tow package. It took four months on a special order to Melfi, Italy. I would do it again, wonderful vehicle.

Let me just say that I came from a 2013 Charger AWD, 6 cylinder, 8 speed. I find the 9 speed as smooth as the 8 speed in the Charger, and the pick up of the engine to get into the follow of traffic is comparable. I also find it comfortable on long trips, and it holds tight to the road, whether in straight aways or curves. I've seen other posts on here that say just the opposite. Take one for a test ride, and decide. One more thing, I think it's a great looking vehicle, especially the Limited.>:D

Oh yeah, I forgot, I like the sound of the 2.4 when getting on it.

Some on this forum have had problems, while many, many others have not. Mine has gone nearly 6,000 miles since last April without any problems whatsoever (January 2015 build).

Reports have surfaced that described loose connectors and at least one with a damaged wiring harness (presumably squashed while the car was being built). Others required software downloads and a couple needed computer modules.

I would suggest a good long test drive and test each button and knob. If something does go wrong, the warranty should take care of it.

Probably the most important thing is to make certain you buy from a dealer that has a good reputation for service. Poor service can be the difference between a nightmare or a mere inconvenience.

Have had mine for less than 1 week, and must admit being on here and reading some of the issues... kinda gets you freaked out. Then again, With how many members and limited amount of complaints (considering), I'll just take it day by day. So far though, I've enjoyed every moment driving and admiring my car parked.

Reading all of this stuff can lead to analysis paralysis. There are pros and cons with most things in life. How about all those vehicles currently being recalled by Honda, Toyota, and many other manufacturers for bad air bags...there have even been deaths reported. People have been driving around for years not knowing that if they were in a serious accident the airbag might be the very thing that killed them instead of saving them. If you like a vehicle enough you go for it knowing there is a factory warranty and in the case of FCA vehicles you have the option of purchasing an extended or lifetime protection plan. As for the Renegade, I'm satisfied with mine so far after a little over 2 months and I'm looking forward to nice weather for "My Sky" I think the shifting thing is weird, but not extreme, when the vehicle is cold...and I think a lot of vehicles shift differently until they are warmed up by driving a few minutes. Haven't been to dealership for oil change yet, so don't know about any computer updates. My guess is if you go to other vehicle blogs, forums,etc..you'll read a lot of things pro and con about those vehicles too...change can be hard at first.

Hi, new 2015 Jeep Renegade TH owner here. So far about 300 miles in and I'm in love.

I noticed that my Renny was build on Sept. 2015, one of the last Renegades for this year. Also 2015 models have better power train warranty vs the 2016 models so that's why I ended up getting the first year model.

My 2015 was built in September too but didn't get here until January lol. Like it so far only have 268 miles on it. No complaints at all, way better built than the patriot that I had for almost 3 years. No joke 2 years total Before jeep finally got it replaced in a forced buy back.

I did end up getting one, 2015 it's got 600 miles now but now I have a worry. It sometimes, makes a clank in the rear when putting it in park, when coasting to a stop I'll get a shift and a burst of acceleration, sometimes hits high rpms when needing to accelerate quickly. Does this just come with the territory or should I be worried

I think that's the computer learning your driving style. I experienced the same transmission quirks for the first month, and nothing since (before or after the dealer updates).

Congrats on taking the plunge--I don't think you'll regret it. Post some pics when you get a chance!
