depending on where the BU Jeep is sold it will sport different power sources.

A single engine offer should be expected for US and CAnada, the 2.4L Tigershark already familiar to consumers through the Dodge Dart and KL Jeep Cherokee routed through a 6 speed ZF gear box. There is also the potetnial to see FIATS 1.4L Turbo engine, however I think this is more likely in the lower spec FIAT 500X.

For developed markets the BU Jeep should make use of the 1.6L E-Torque engine derived from the old Neon 2.0L 4.

There will be two diesel options available, the 1.6 and 2.0L FIAT MultiJet engines. I'm not expecting either of these engines in NA. Also not expected for NA is the choice of 5 and 6 speed manuals.

Keep in mind this is all speculation.

Will there be different engine options or trim levels for the BU Jeep? I know its going to be a smaller and more affordable vehicle, so I'm not sure if they will offer higher end engines.

I would be curious to see if the Laredo/Renegade will come with the 2.4L Cherokee engine or not.

It is a smaller car so I dont know if they would offer something smaller and have the 2.4 as an upgrade or have the 2.4 standard.

It would make sense if it comes with that 2.4L engine, seems suitable enough for all the things that will be required of it. at least thats how i see it

yes it seems like for the North American market the BU will use the 2,4 Tigershark throughout the trim levels, possibly using the ZF 9 speed.

the diesel engines will be global engines but excluding north america. And the 1.6L E-Torque engine is expected as an option for South America...

the 2.4 Tigershark is a 4 cylinder, it'll fit. It fits in the dart....

im sure they can even fit a V6 in it if they really wanted to but we know that wont happen, doesn't seem to be in line with what they want it to be.

It's likely on the same platform, but as for overall size, i think i will be bigger, big enough to fit a v6

they did manage to put V6's in the Liberty which seems to be similar in proportions with the Renegade/Laredo, seems suitable to me.
