Isn't that basically the point of the whole forum? Why don't we make a Renegade forum where people can come to ask questions. O wait, that is what we are already writing on.Can we start a new heading "Questions about Renegade" Thanks
It's pretty much universally available, we are in the death throws of charging extra for it still. At this stage in the industry i actually think this should be a standard feature to have, it's simple enough to include.
The bas thing about them is security. It can be fixed, but most systems, especially affordable ones, tend to be way easier to hijack than RFID in the key that has to be very near field or a chipped key with physical contacts. The good thing about “proximity” sensors and push button start is that it eliminates the issues GM had with their “turn the key” ignition start switch that ended being part of a cover-up debacle. Push button start and key-less entry are all part of the future. The day will come that we no longer need a key at all for or cars.
I agree for sure. I prefer NFC like that used in "smart phones" where you need to be within less than 1/2 inch or contact in order for it to work. The bas thing about them is security. Cut me down why don't you. The purpose of what I was thinking was to put all questions in one discussion because some questions can be answered in one post and there is no discussion needed. It would speed up time to be able to go to one heading to post and get answers to a question. Sorry for the suggestion!!!!!Isn't that basically the point of the whole forum? Just bugging you, but I don't think that that thread would be a very strict category. We should break it down further. A thread on a single question can end up going on for a long time.
Yes, the Renegade comes with a push button "Start". I used it with option "Keyless enter and go".I'm not sure if this goes in this form Anyway, I haven't seen this anywhere yet, but would the Renegade come with a "Push button start" feature ? Anyone know ?
Thanks
So if I understand this, I can expect a "push button start". Thank you all for joining in."Keyless enter and go" according to the NYIAS Features sheet, is available with the Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. On the other Jeep models, Keyless enter and go includes a push button start and the ability to enter, lock and unlock your doors without touching the key fob.
They already were in the form of physical keys with chips. They are replacing more secure with less secure, but more convenient.I agree for sure. I prefer NFC like that used in "smart phones" where you need to be within less than 1/2 inch or contact in order for it to work.
Who knows? That might be next. Time, customer feed back and the insurance companies will probably decide that.
In general, this SHOULD work like every other accessory and be powered when the jumper cables are hooked up. Some accessories don't get enough juice to run right in that situation, but things like engine immobilizers and other security stuff absolutely should by design. If it doesn't someone screwed something up.So if I understand this, I can expect a "push button start". Thank you all for joining in.
Just another comment about push button start. The winters a very cold here, and a friend of mine could not get the car (with a push button start) to start, it was just dead ! The issue was later a recall for all models and fixed by the dealer, (it was the actual system itself, not the battery), but you can imagine the frustration when the car is brand new. So I don't know if you can go about boosting the car as you normally can with standard "turn the key", I know my friend couldn't!
This real life example did NOT occur on a Jeep or other Chrysler model btw!
Ok thanks, don't know what the exact problem was in my example. In general, this SHOULD work like every other accessory and be powered when the jumper cables are hooked up. Some accessories don't get enough juice to run right in that situation, but things like engine immobilizers and other security stuff absolutely should by design. If it doesn't someone screwed something up.
They did something wrong?Ok thanks, don't know what the exact problem was in my example.
well, I remember they telling me there was a recall and I think something had to be recalibrated or something with the push button start system.Again, not Jeep relatedThey did something wrong?
Most likely issue would be insufficient grounding, but it could have been bad components that didn't function in the temperature range specified by the car maker. Counterfeit components on a low bid or something.
