Hi there, mrshannon726,Having the same issue…there should be a recall since this is consistent. I have 2018 GC Limited
Hello, I have a 2018 Jeep Renegade and 2 days ago the radio would randomly change stations on its own. I thought maybe it was just a small issue and tried listening to music through blue tooth but even using Spotify the songs would repeat and restart on their own. Does anyone know what may be causing this. I'd rather not have to take it to dealership and pay them to fix it. Thanks!!!

Hi veperez_landarch,Hello Family! I too had this very issue. (2018 Renegade-Trailhawk) There was a strange bubble / blob form that started at the top of the screen and gradually worked its way down i couldn't control any aspect of my radio console.... the last straw was the radio started dialing numbers from my contact list on my phone, when connected via bluetooth.... Here is what the dealer told me: The amorphic bubble that was on my touchscreen was internal condensation. The cause was that at "some point" a microscopic hole was created (probably during installation) that compromised the closed system the screen requires to operate normally. Being in Texas, it gets hot... and when the radio is hot and the dashboard is hot, it will produce condensation. Once the condensation has enough mass to be recognized, the touchscreen interprets the newly formed water molecule as a finger touch... multiply that by 100s of molecules and the radio is possessed. Their recommendation: 1. Replace the radio console for the tune of $2K. 2. Wait for a Manufacturer Recall. My solution: Since I was still paying for the aforementioned broken radio, this new radio was not an option, and two years later, there is still no recall. So, I did the only thing I could... I turned it off. Mostly in protest and frustration, but honestly for the peace of mind for not trying to wrestle control away from the rogue radio. BUT... while I cooled off, so did my radio. Slowly, and gradually, the bubble edge halfway through my screen had started inching back upward. Once it cleared the top line of text on the screen, I turned it back on. Hallelujah! My radio was exercised and I could listen to my radio freely It took almost two full months, but it cost me $0!! almost 18mo later, and it hasn't come back, fingers crossed!
I believe it was around August of 2021 because it was just months after my warranty expired.Hi veperez_landarch,
When was your visit to the dealership to have this diagnosed? Should this recur, you are welcome to PM our team and we can look into any available options to assist you as well.
