Sorry if this is a re-post, but I just found this interesting article on lifting the new Renegade. Basically, it is more possible then the Cherokee KL

Based on what is known about the 500L and 500X suspension, it does appear strut spacers is the way to lift these things. Question is what does this do to handling, driveline angles and longevity of parts?

Jeep also shown some rock sliders at the LA Autoshow that looked promising. Problem is Jeep has a tendency to show stuff that never materialize into tangible items. Remember the FC and Kaiser concepts? They wanted to show what was possible with the corporate parts bin? Except that most of us don't have access to the corporate parts bin and a few million dollars of play money.

I'm hopeful, but at the same time pessimistic.
I have friend that owns a company that makes custom 4X4 parts, builds 4X4, and is a designer. He works out of L.A. and I talked to him about an idea I have to make a rear tire mount like the Wrangler for the Renegade since he has the facilities and backing to do it. He told me in return that he has already be contacted by Chrysler and that they are going to give him a couple of Renegades for beta testing and design... I wont tell you his company yet, but I will tell you he is the ONLY guy that came up with and makes for the public lift kits for the MINI Countryman 4X4. If he can lift a MINI he can lift a Renegade.
Hi Indiana Jones,
Has your friend received his beta test Renegades yet or at least been given a date when he will get them?

No, not yet. But he has designed and made an off road trailer for two people that has a stove, LED lighting, fridge, 30 gallon water tank, roof rack or optional roof tent, stereo and more that can be towed by the Renegade that has a 1000 lb weight and 80 # tongue. I will post a link tomorrow when I get to a regular computer. I don't know how to copy and paste on a tablet LOL!

I was meaning to ask you, I read about your review and tire clearances and how limited out is. Do you think a 3" list would help as far as putting a wider, fatter tire on?

Yes that is it Charles! Here is a direct link for the trailer;

This a direct quote from my friend. My name has been changed to protect the innocent.

"Indiana Jones, currently we have the M.U.T.T. torn down to replace some bent panels and to add a floor. Previously the floor was a TruckVault so it didn't need one. Without all the extra stuff it weighs about 1000lbs. tongue weight was about 80lbs without the extending pole with the 3rd gen FLIR unit/batteries/fuel cans/storage box on the front."

Yes, a lift will help, but you still need to consider the overall wheel and tire weight differences from stock, the wheel offset to avoid rub and the speedometer offset, hopefully there will be a software setting change or flash available for this?

Here are the lift kits to date, in planning at G-Force Italy:

LIFT KIT + 2.5CM OFFROAD
LIFT KIT OFFROAD + 2.5cm, comprising 4 BRACKETS SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR AN INCREASE EFFECTIVE 2.5CM A EURO 270 + VAT

KIT LIFT EXTREME
CONSISTS OF 4 BRACKETS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY, THE NEED FOR A PLATE ENGINE MODIFICATIONS

2.5cm = 1 inch
Not really enough lift to make any real difference in overall wheelwell clearance really. Going to need more than that to keep bigger tires from rubbing on the front and rear of the fender skirts I would think. Agreed?? :|

Yes, but you don't really want to get too big on tires either considering they are being driven by a 2.4L 4 cylinder with just barely OK torque. The auto transmission saps some power too.

I think for what the Renegade TH is designed for, slightly larger tire and 1" lift is about all you want to push it. I'd even go as far as saying slightly wider track wheels and tires in stock size but more aggressive thread is probably plenty for the casual off-roading it was meant for.

If you want to do something more, short of a supercharger kit (which doesn't exist), the Renegade is probably not the correct tool for the job and you ought to be looking at the mid to lower end Wranglers for about the same money.
Depending on what comes on the market for Renegade Lift Kits, while researching what they did for the Patriot I came across the RRO Lift Kit which includes more than just the strut spacers:

Jeep Patriot lift kit contains:
Front Strut spacers
Rear strut spacers
Rear upper control arms
Swaybar extensions
Camber bolt packs

If any of you Renegade and especially Trailhawk owners have your wheels off, can you please take pictures of the suspension and see what the Control Arms and Swaybars are like on the Renegade and post the pics.
i've had a patriot with the cited lift kit... 29 inch wrangler territory and a set of 16 inch offset rims...

they never managed to align it right + on the rain it was crappy and dangerous, in the snow it was suicidal, i've felt the line on the road like it was ice, and i'm not talking about the power/mpg this set-up eat, to the point i give it back in exchange for a golf TDi ! lol

seriously don't do that on these kind of independent suspension/body.

Too general of a statement to be accurate. There are too many factors at play. Said kit may not be properly designed or produced. Installation may be faulty. Plus, the Patriot is most certainly not the same as a Renegade. Neither is the said kit for the Patriot the same as the one in development for the Renegade. Independent suspension can be lifted. It's a question of how far and how far you can go while still staying within the limitations of factory built-in tolerances for alignment.

However, the Renegade being new, I don't think it is wise to mess with the suspension while under warranty. God knows what gremlins lurk under the skin of these Fiat built cars. I would not want to do anything that could affect coverage or cause difficulties in filing claims. For what it was designed for, I think more aggressive tires and wider track (obtained through spacers or aftermarket wheels) is the more prudent answer... until it is out of factory warranty.

Jeep recently released their own lift kits for the Wrangler, at very reasonable prices and with factory warranty. Perhaps in due time they will do the same for the Renegade.

This is the only lifts I can find, they are in Italy so the page is translated.

Already discussed I think. See rest of thread.
