I'm sure we have all learned the balance of doing things yourself vs paying someone else to do it

Time vs Money vs Getting it done exactly how you want it vs Risk vs Recourse if something goes wrong vs Knowing what the **** you're doing, etc....

If I scratched the bumper, at least I know exactly how it happened. :)
Couldn't have phrased or said it better myself! That is why I finally broke down and installed mine myself.

I finally ordered my hitch kit from the folks over at RR. Purchased the wire-kit as well.

Can't wait to receive and start the install! :)
Received my RR order this afternoon. I almost left work :cough cough: sick, but knew I had to pick the boys up from school on the way home from work @ 4:30, so...

Anyways, I couldn't find the cutting-template or the installation instructions inside the package. Is it possible I missed something? Or am I supposed to download those items from their website?

Well darn-it... I went through all the packaging once again, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. No instructions or cutting template to be found.

I contacted customer service at RR via Email. Hoping this is something they can Email (PDF maybe?) or that I can download. I hate to miss an opportunity to install over this weekend, since it's supposed to be clear and comfortable all weekend, :(

Did you get one box or two? I got two boxes when I received my RR kit. One large box that had the hitch, trim piece, and fasteners in it, and then one other smaller box that included the directions, rolled up template (don't think that a pdf of it would do you any good), fitment test piece, and the wiring kit. They came on different days as well.

Only received one large box. Only received one tracking number too, so didn't even think about expecting a second box.

The wiring kit came attached to the bumper already. Also included was a smaller box (inside the larger box) which included the trim piece, the fasteners, and the bolts.

I rummaged through all the packaging like a lost dog looking for food, and no instructions or cutting template, :(

Oh well, high of 72' today, and mostly sunny... Guess I'll be playing outside with the boys and dog instead of working on Lil'Red... Could be worse... Could have woken up to snow flurries - like we did last Sunday (I kid you not, LOL!).

That is exactly what I received in the larger box. The wiring that is already attached to the hitch is not the complete wiring system. You will need the additional wiring harness adaptor kit to get it to function in the Jeep. All of the instructions, wiring kit, and template stuff came inside the separate box.

Enjoy your weekend and I understand the waking up to snow in May completely.

My wife and I did our hitch back in March. It took about a day and a half to complete. Overall it was very easy to do and the instructions were on point. One thing is when pulling back the wheel well trim piece---be careful. We actually pulled ours off and used the replacement clips and some new double sided trim tape. It all worked out in the end other than the "deer in the headlights" look we both had when we pulled just a wee bit too hard.

Service writer at our dealership, in jest of course, asked if we want to install hitches for them since it turned out that well.

Also the reflectors are hollow (someone earlier had inquired)...in case one wants to add lights in the future.

Good luck!!!

Just installed. Start to finish an hour and a half with a lift and air tools. Pretty much as straight forward as it gets.
Wow! Hour and a half, nice! Your wrenchin' skills are strong, sir, :)

Has anyone had the odometer blink and the Sound System unavailable warning stay on after the installed the hitch wiring? I have tried disconnecting the battery to no avail. Will try moving the fuse link to a different socket and double checking where the wiring hooks up to the taillights.

Just finished installing mine. I want to give a shout-out to the Renegade Ready people (Brian) and the kit - the value is in the excellent instructions which show you pretty much everything you need to know.
