- the transmission isn't fiat. It's in the rengade, the cherokee, the CRV fro north america, an acura sedan, etc. You aren't getting away form the more complex high number of gear transmissions. It will also be in the new compass. The patriot name is dead, I don't know why people pretend FCA didn't say that. It could be a totally new name, but they have said patriot is dead and implied compass stays.
- that bigger patriot replacement? That will be based on the same platform as the renegade. With the same transmission. And the same engine. And the same AWD system. We might be seeing the 2017 vehicles get teh replacement for the 2.4 tigershark across the board, but without more power, more weight, and more wheelbase, it probably won't be rated to tow any more.
- FCA's beta culture has been a probelm since before FCA was FCA, and is common DNA on both sides of the family tree.
- your summary, based on ignorance, is that you shoudn't buy renegades, because they aren't as cool or have as good of a transmission as one of the most disliked SUVs in recent history with a worse interior and a disliked transmission. and that you should wait if you are thinking of buying, because you can avoid the fiat DNA by buying the patriot replacement, which is going to be based on the same chassis and drive train as the renegade.
I'll just borrow Gene here, because he was awesome. Your conclusions and advice are not.
