Resetting the Oil Change Required Indicator

If the engine oil is changed before the oil change required indicator has been tripped/displayed does it need to be reset?
If it does need to be reset (see page 163 of the user's guide) how does one know it has been reset if there was no indicator to start with?

From Page 163 of the User's Guide
OILCHANGEREQUIRED
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The Oil Change
telltale and message (Oil Change Required) will display in the EVIC/DID display for
approximately 10 seconds, after a single chime has sounded, to indicate the next
scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change indicator system is duty-cycle
based, which means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon
your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time you turn the ignition
switch to the MAR/RUN position for vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-NGO
™, or cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position for vehicles equipped with Keyless
Enter-N-Go™. To turn off the message temporarily, push and release the MENU
button. To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled
maintenance), refer to the following procedure:

Vehicles Equipped With Keyless Enter-N-Go™
1. Without pushing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button and
cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position (do not start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
3. Without pushing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button once to
return the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position.

Vehicles Not Equipped With Keyless Enter-N-Go™
1. Turn the ignition switch to the MAR/RUN position (do not start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the STOP/OFF position.

NOTE:
If the indicator message illuminates when you start the engine, the oil change
indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat these steps.

Did my first oil change at 2000 miles but procedures in the manual to reset the next service interval does not seem to do anything. Turned ignition on without foot on brake, depressed gas pedal three times, turned ignition off. Did this at least a dozen times. Still shows 8000 miles and remaining 320 days to end of year for service. Anyone know if the service indicator needs to be triggered before it can be reset? Have had other vehicles with similar systems but all could be reset when desired.

I don't think you can reset without the notice. I changed my oil at 4000 miles before a long trip and the service reminder came on at 8k. Reset works perfect.

I agree, I had the oil reset idiot light on two Fiat's I owned recently. You have to wait until the message shows then reset. In other words, if you change the oil before the message shows, you cannot reset until the idiot light tells you to change the oil.

Oil service countdown not resetting

Had my TH in for its first service this morning, noticed they didn't reset the oil countdown screen, took it back, they fiddled with things for 45 minutes but finally gave up. Followed the instructions in the manual: don't push brake, push start button until vehicle is in ON mode, slowly depress accelerator three times all the way within 10 seconds, then push start button again (without touching the brake). Won't reset, tried it myself a few times as well.

Any advice?

I had my oil changed at the dealership too. They reset the oil light... But the service counter is still counting down to 0. I called dealership , they said that's the 10000 mile service counter and once I have them rotate tires, flush fluids and check breaks it will reset. But that they couldn't tell me how to reset it.

Message Center on dash

Not sure if this has been out there yet, I didn't even search for it. However, does anyone know how to re-set the message center on a 2015. I got the message oil change requested, well I got the oil changed at a local gas station and the message is still popping up when I start the Jeep. I read the manual and it said that the dealership would have rest it but since the job was done at a gas station the employee didn't know how to re-set.

So short story long, how do I re-set the message center on my dash to get rid of the oil message?

Thanks

Per page 208-209 of your Owner's Manual:

Oil Change Reset

Oil Change Due
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The “Oil Change Due” message will display in the DID for five seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate, dependent upon your personal driving style.

Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time you turn the ignition is cycled to the ON/RUN position. To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance), refer to the following procedure.

1. Without pushing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button and cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position (do not start the engine).

2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.

3. Without pushing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button once to return the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.

I FINALLY found out from dealership, The mileage counter HAS to be reset with a WY Diagnostic tool, by the dealership OR a Mechanic that has one. My dealership reset mine for free after I bugged them for 3 weeks about it. They HOWEVER set it to 5000 for next oil change. They stated that is the MAX setting they are allowed to set it to, and that IF I DO NOT come to them for next oil change it will cost $40 for them to reset it again. My regular mechanic that does my oil changes doesn't have this tool, but will only charge me $50 for oil change. The counter reached 0 weeks ago, and all it did was tell me to service engine every time I start Jeep, But I am tracking mileage till next oil change because I already had 1000 miles on it from last one when dealership reset it to 5000. I dont think I'm going to worry about it after the next 1.
