I have a 2015 Renegade 1.4L. Today I went in for an oil change with 9,700 miles on the car. The perform service message has been on for a week now. After the oil change the Jeep tech said he could not figure out how to reset this message. He showed me the way to reset it (by pressing the accelerator pedal 3 three times) and told me I would have to research it. Besides that they said to change the oil every 10k miles, but the sticker he put on the window says 5k. I'm not impressed with the service I got from that Jeep dealership. Any advice on how to reset this message?

That's it. Turn the ignition on and wait for all the normal warning lights to extinguish. Then press and release the gas pedal 3 times (not too quickly or too slowly). Now turn the ignition off. The oil reminder should be reset.

Now what about the 10,000 mile or 1 year service message? Do you get that service done because you're not far from that point, or do you have to take the vehicle back in a couple weeks? If you had that service performed, did they reset the countdown to go off in another year or 10,000 miles? Anyone dealt with this yet? I don't understand how they could put a sticker on the vehicle telling you when you're next oil change is when the vehicle has an oil life monitor, and they know this fact since they sell and service the vehicles.

It's crazy then because the manufacturer warranty repairs are to be performed by the dealerships and the Mopar service contract states that repairs should be completed by the dealership to prevent any voiding of the service plan coverage, but the dealership mechanics don't know the vehicles in and out?

Just had my oil changed at the dealership's quick change and it was really fast and convenient. They turned off the "oil change due" message but they didn't know anything about the "service vehicle" message that will go off at 1 year or 10,000 miles. I'm a little under 8,000 miles so I guess when it illuminates I'll go to a dealership that's closer to me and hope they know about manufacturer recommended maintenance.

I went to 3 dealerships and they are clueless about it. They all think it's for the oil change. I told them that is a separate indicator. I asked them what it involves and they have no idea. I already did an oil change and tire rotation. They also did a multi-point inspection.

Yeah, unbelievable. Then when you take it in for the manufacturer recommended maintenence, they'll recommend the maintenance they think it needs just like they say my next oil change is in 4,000 miles. My old 2004's vehicle oil change interval was 5000 miles. How can 4,000 miles be the generic average for vehicles in 2016? My next oil change will be when the oil life monitor tells me it's time, or before 1 year since the last. I have synthetic and don't drive heavy duty, I'll be alright with following the manufacturer recommendation. I wonder, will I have to take the owners manual into the dealership to show what maintenance is required at 10,000 miles or will they know?

Just did my first oil change at 6300 per the idiot light. Dealer says you cannot reset it yourself. What a load of crap. If I had known that one little tid bit about the renegade, I would have probably not purchased it. I cannot believe this is what car sales has come to. Anything to charge you a dime. Guess that light is staying on indefinitely.

Doesn't work on the 2016 1.4 6spd. Don't know when the change occured, but dealer says they can only do it. And they want to charge to do it. I can deal with the message. It would be different if it stayed on at all times. I barely see it in day to day driving. Still, shame on FCA!!!

How come it worked on mine and did the key/gas pedal trick?
I got the2016 1.4T 6 speed.

Not sure if its build date related or country or what, but it does not work on mine. Key on, warning lights go off, press accelerator 3 times, turn key off. Did it at least 20 times. 2 Dealers double checked.

I finally got used to ignoring the oil change light, but my OCD just wouldn't leave it alone. After tons of web searching and phone calls, I was told by Autel, that the OLS301 tool could communicate and clear oil and maintenance reminders. Well $100 later and no luck. The device almost does it, but then gives an error in the final moments. So while sitting there, cursing Jeep, Autel, and anyone else I can think of at the moment, I decide to do the pedal reset procedure, and after a few more tries, I decide to take the parking brake off and do it. VIOLA! that was the evil gremlin causing the reset failure. Can you believe the B.S. that no one could identify, from FCA, to the Dealer to the enitre WWW. LOL. I've always prided my self on never giving up on a problem, but geez I know I lost a few years of life tackling this one. Anyway, I realize no one else has posted the issue, but here is the resolve if you do stumble on this problem. Again, this is for the 2016 sport, manual with 1.4L T. In the USA. DO NOT USE THE AUTO PARKING BRAKE OR ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN ATTEMPTING THE OIL RESET PROCEDURE STATED IN THE OWNERS AND SERVICE MANUAL!

I haven't been able to get the indicator to reset on my '15 manual Latitude either. I've tried it countless times, pumping the gas immediately upon turning the key to on, waiting for the oil change indicator to appear, parking break disengaged, automatic parking brake turned off, starting the engine immediately after or not....I cannot get this thing to reset.

And I swear I got it to work once a long time ago, but never since.

I think it is strange to have such issues just to turn off a reminder light. But you did get it to turn off once. Even more strange. Try scrolling down to the message screen and then pumping 3 times.

Eureka (I think)

Like so many other posters, I was extremely frustrated by my inability to turn off the Oil Change Required indicator message, and tried all of the previous suggestions to no avail. Then I recalled that I was always annoyed that when I get my car back from the dealer having done any work on the vehicle, I find myself driving around town at night without my headlights on because for some reason, the dealer always turns it from automatic where I always keep it, to the off position and I forget to check them. Anyway, it got me thinking and so I tried turning my headlights from automatic to the off position and then followed the standard procedure of turning on the ignition, pumping the gas 3 times, turning off the ignition and finally pushing in the clutch and starting the vehicle. And eureka, that pesky message was nowhere to be seen.
Now, like one of the previous posters who swore it had something to do with turning off the automatic parking brake (a solution that did not seem work for others and certainly not me), perhaps my success was just a confluence of other random events and had nothing at all to do with me turning off the headlights, but I am hopeful this proves to be secret. Clearly, I will need to wait another 9,000 km or so before I can try it again and confirm this to be the trick, but if anyone else with a 2017 1.4L manual transmission has success in the interim, please let us know.

I feel vindicated LOL. I'm coming up on my next change soon, if I go by when the last light came on, so I'll get to try my method of shutting off the auto parking brake and going thru the standard procedure again.

This car is very finicky, which leads me to believe there are many differences from one build to another.

Anyway, glad you found what makes yours happy.
