Hi Guys,

We aren't Renegade owners yet, but we're hoping to get one in our shop to prototype rock sliders, roof racks and possibly a winch mount and lift kit. The winch mount will dependent on the amount of room there is and the lift kit will be dependent on how the suspension is set up from the factory.

If you are in Utah (or willing to visit), and are interested in this, please get in touch with us, 888-801-7271 and we'll try to arrange something. In exchange for the use of your Jeep, we will install the parts on your vehicle for free.

The trailhawk has a skid plate that needs to be removed for oil changes. It looks like the skid plate on the winch mount might use some of the bolts on the bottom needed for the factory skid plate that protects the oil pan. Will the winch mount with skid plate interfere with the oil change process?

Just ordered the wench mount with skid plate, smittybilt XRC 9500 syn, FPI lighting.
Just like the first pic , different winch, and no lower lights .
The 2nd pic is when I wished I had the power wench setup!

Looks like the wench mount might affect the front end approach angle.

It does for sure, here is another shot showing it.

I plan to lift it so it shouldn't affect it much, but running this winch mount without a lift would definitely be counterintuitive.
From that view,I calculate losing about 6 degrees
i like your calculation better!!
I ordered the wench mount with the skid plate 2 weeks ago, they said I should get it sometime next week. So it is what it is , 3deg. I can live with that, better than being stuck and hand wrenching, like when I took this pic

From that view,I calculate losing about 6 degrees
6 degrees is pretty heavy... I got 3.7 degrees. Obviously it's not an accurate measurement... but check it out.
After further examination, I think it's actually less than 2 deg. The blue line may be picking up a shadow.
From the front view, all of the winch mount plates are above the hooks

Renegade (BU) Bumper/Winch mount

Thank you for your Rocky Road Outfitters, llc purchase! We value your business & appreciate any input you might have on this product and/or its install. Your winch mount/bumper is guaranteed to last as long as you own your vehicle. Read the instructions thoroughly before installation.

Items to have on hand for the installation: Ratchet set with 17mm socket, wrench set, cardboard or other "pad" to keep Rock Rails from dragging on ground and scratching the powder coating. Note: You might want to have an extra ¼? drill bit or 2 on hand along with cutting oil.

If you have any questions on this or other modifications to your Renegade, please don?t hesitate to call our tech line, (435)654-1149.

Use your common sense as much as these instructions for a successful install.

Step 1.
Verify that you have received the correct parts. Your bumper/winch mount should look like this:

Step 2.
On the bottom of your vehicle locate 2 pop-rivets (located on the bottom of the bumper just inside the front of the fender well), drill the rivets as shown in the picture at left.

Step 3? On the inside front of the wheel well locate the 2 bolts lower on the fenders.(2 on pass side 2 on dr side) remove>

Once those bolts are removed you can pull the plastic fender out of the way and tie it out of the
way with some wire or string.

Step 4.>
On the inside of the fender well locate the WHITE push pins that hold the fender flare on. With a flat nose screw driver press the tabs down and push them out. There are 10 clips on each side located along the fender. Once you have all those out you can remove the fender flare.

Step 5.
On the front of you vehicle locate the black plastic push pins that hold the plastic shield covering the radiator mount. First pull the push-pin out (as illustrated in the photo at left).

Then remove the remaining plastic pin-base as shown in the photo at right. Remove with caution as you will be reusing them. There are 12 in all.

Step 6.
Remove the bolts holding the fender to the support. Photo shows an open hole where one bolt has been removed, socket wrench is on another bolt, removing it.

Inside the fender well locate the bolt holding the lower bumper fascia to the upper bumper. Remove it, on each side of the vehicle.

You will also need to remove the bolts underneath the front, visible if you lay under the vehicle. If you have a skidplate, you will need to loosen the forward bolts on that in order to remove a couple of the 10mm head
bolts from the plastic bumper underneath.

Step 7.
Now the tricky part.
Looking on the inside of the fender well, you will notice the fascia and the bumper are held together with clips as shown in the photo at left

From the outside of the bumper carefully press a flat wide screwdriver between the bumper and facia while pulling slightly on the bumper till it pops out. Do this along the center section, but prying the tabs from the inside by the radiator instead.

Do this all along the bumper on both sides till it is just hanging there.

Step 8.
Remove plastic screw that the hood rests on. note the depth, you will want to set it at the same position during reassembly.

This section slides between the hook and a mount
You have easy access to the bolts but to get access to the nuts you have to do all those steps in the insructions

Two thumbs up for Rocky Road !!!Easy to install !! Everything lines up perfect!'
Disregard the RR insructions , they are useless
Just remove the 2 Bolts holding up each hook, slide the mount in between the hook and top , line up the holes, put back the bolts but don't tighten them , the hooks may push back some ,so you have to pull them back forward by putting a strap on the hooks ,rap the strap around tree ,back up pulling the hooks forward , then tighten the bolts .....done!! Next attach the skid plate and that's Easy too just 4 bolts .2 on top ,2 on bottom... Done

You may need to access the large adjustment nut on the back of the hook.
Just remove the 3 screws holding the inside of the wheel well liner
There's 2 screws on the side and 1 on the bottom ,pull back the liner and you can reach inside to access the hook nut

As you can see, the hook nut isn't flush against the raised boss in this picture , so you have to pull the hook forward to seat it using the strap to a tree method

Here's a close up of the back tow hook nut as seen from the wheel well access which needs to be pulled forward

Yes I had to notch out the outside corners about 1/4" , just enough to slide it in over the hooks , it was a tight fit, had to use some force with a soft dead blow hammer to line up the holes .The hooks kept pushing back,so I had to pull the hooks forward after I put the bolts back in.

On the rock sliders, I was thinking maybe we can reuse the top portion of the plastic molding by attaching it to some sort of fixture and rip saw off that bottom lip and some how reattaching it over the top portion of the rock slider inside the door areas to cover the screws for a better finished look
