I bought a water proof cargo bag recently and the manufactures says that rails are not required. I have sports pars installed already, but held off getting a cargo basket, as it appear a basket won't go into my garage on top of the vehicle (I have a very shallow garage door opener/frame).
Anyone forsee any issues with laying the cargo bag on top of the vehicle and just attaching to the side and sports racks?

You might scratch the roof; lots of road grime will find it's way between the cargo bag and the roof, where it will wear at the paint as you drive.
