So, day 2 of Renegade ownership, and so far all is well!

I'm just wondering whether any of you have found any scuffs/scratches on the interior plastic or marks on the upholstery when you picked up?

I'm finding a few as time goes on and I'm looking around more, although the dealer is being very reasonable and has asked me to take a good look around for any more, and they'll sort it for me.

I also found a noticeable squeak somewhere in the area of the centre console and dash (as I hear it from my left ear, the the passenger from their right). The more miles I'm driving, the more it seems to dissipate, but it comes back when I change speed (up or down) before slowly starting to subside again when my speed remains steady. It doesn't always seem to be related to bumps in the road either... very strange. I'm thinking it could just be things bedding in, but I'll keep an eye on it, and the dealer has said they'll take a look too if it carries on.

In any case, I'm a self-confessed perfectionist and very fussy, so I'm not going to start mouthing off about FCA quality at this stage, and aside from that the car is really, really enjoyable and comfortable to drive.

Anyway, have others experienced the same with scuffs/squeaks?

Don't have any squeaks but do have an occasional vibration rattle above the drivers ear on the headlining, thought was the roof handle but seems to be slightly further back than that. trouble is its not all the time and once you let a mechanic start pulling things off they can turn out worse, had a similar one on the passenger side on my previous car and never got it seen to.

In terms of scuffs I had two which I noticed the morning after taking delivery the previous dark night. I reported them straight away and although theres been a delay in sorting it out the dealer is going to replace them, its a pain though as the dealer is 60 miles away. One was on the black plastic trim above the rear wheel arch, a few faint scratches/marks only noticeable at certain angles but I notice everything like you, the other was on the inside cream coloured pillar between windscreen and door, looks like a valeter caught it with a wristwatch or something whilst cleaning the screen, only noticeable when the suns shining on it but still an annoyance. A couple of other tiny marks on the black areas around the air con dials but you never notice them as its quite dark down there, very minor.

In time I'd probably have forgotten about both and got on with it but at the end of the day you buy a new motor and it should be perfect.

Mine is very good; not squeaks or rattles. And the paint is above average for a production car.

I know my 2009 Challenger had very noticeable scuff marks on the dashboard plastic right above the speedo/Tach. The scuff marks likely happened at the factory. That always bothered me but I didn't do anything about it (traded that car for the Renegade).

Interior scuff marks on you Renegade could have happened during transport by a driver with tools sticking out of his pocket.

Took it out for a decent drive on various roads this afternoon. Bit of a squeak after startup while idling for a few minutes, but nothing like yesterday, and then again when on the move at various speeds, but most noticeable at 40 and 70. After around 20 minutes it slowly but surely started to dissipate, only coming back when changing speed.

Have limited myself to 70 since getting it, but pushed it up to 80 very, very briefly - squeaks aside, the 1.6 diesel seems a very capable car and hard broke a sweat.

Anyway, the squeak was all but gone arriving home an hour after I took it out, just occasionally when going over a bump or at low revs, and I probably only noticed it because I was actively listening for it.

I'm going to hazard a guess that it's just the car settling down and bedding in - there were only ten miles on the clock on pick up - and I'll see how things go on our road trip to Italy next week.

Had my OE 1.4 just over a month now, 600 miles on the clock and so far very pleased no funny noises or squeaks very pleased with fit and finish:)
I did have some scuff marks in the lower panels on the passenger side centre console which the dealer sorted before I took delivery, I think it was were they were removing panels to sort the alarm issues out at the UK port?
I will say that the exterior black trims are easy to mark but do respond to a good quality plastic care product so I would advise caution.

Thanks for the update. That's interesting; what transmission do you have?

Okay, thanks; likely won't affect the automatics in the Trailhawks. I will check the routing and fixing of the cables and oil lines when I'm under it to change the oil for the first time.

We brought ours in for 3 squeeks. For what it's worth, my dealer said everything was fine and there were no squeeks/rattles. They didn't really try though...

1. There is a squeek somewhere behind the steering wheel in the dash. I believe it's the speaker grille. I didn't have enough hands to pull out a stethoscope and verify the strength of the noise, but pushing on the cluster hood made it go away. So just frontal pressure centered above the steering wheel on the dash hood.

2. Behind the driver side rear door, to their left, just behind the door. There is a plastic panel. This rattles with audio bass. I am creating an audio sweep to get some tones to generate the rattle mentioned here. When I'm done, I will post it to this forum

3. There is a rattle in the driver door. Source is unconfirmed, but my plan was to disassemble the door when I get my Renegade back from the dealer and go for a drive on some areas with my chassis ears hooked up to both passenger and driver side doors.

That's all that I found. It's great that you found those tranny cables rubbing though, pics might help in case someone else has this issue. This car is overall pretty quiet, but it's new. Time will tell how the plastics hold up and the NVH insulation as well.

I'm curious, for those that have scuff marks and decide to take it back to the dealership to correct. What do they end up doingdo? Do they buff it out, or order another panel, etc?

Hi there.

I originally posted this under Jeep Renegade General Discussion > What annoyances do you have with the Renegade? but thought that this would be a more relevant place to post.

I started to hear a slight chattering noise coming from the dash (kinda sounds like a cable or cable tie vibrating inside) every time I go over a significant bump (which happens a lot in Malta!). If I place something (apply pressure) in the crevasse in between the air conditioning dials and the upper part of the usb/12v oultet - the vibrations stop (view picture)(which BTW is an excellent place to store an Iphone nice and snug). Don't know if I should just wedge a piece of rubber in between or tell the dealership to take a look. I am concerned that if they dismantle the dash they won't put it back as good as it originally was. Any suggestions are more than welcomed!

Today I managed to slide in an endoscope camera into the back of the console. I noticed that there was some kind of part number sticker which had come off and was propped up against the side-wall - thought I had found the culprit - but no joy!

I am finding it impossible to simulate the noise while parked in the garage while viewing the video on my laptop. Might have to give up and "reluctantly" hand it over to the dealer for them to check it out. :(

Does anybody know how to remove the bottom centre console (where the 12v, usb and aux connections are located)??

Hi
Did you ever get to the bottom of the rattling drivers door? It's just started in my Limited four weeks after delivery! Driving me crazy, sounds as though the glass is rattling in the window frame or the door isn't closed properly?
Thanks
LL
