Hi Kevin

My daughter is getting this error message now and has 3000 miles. What was the result? I have called three Jeep dealerships and the corporate office and this error message is not listed anywhere. There was also a difference of opinion in what it could be. My daugter is taking in this afternoon for them to test the battery in the fob.

I would love to know what your experience has been.

thanks
Sarah

Just a shot in the dark... try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 15-30 min. Seems to help some folks with issues.

So, just to let anyone know if this happens to your car what I did to fix mine. I was getting the light on my dash of a key shown in the previous post. Plus, I was getting an error that said, "service passive entry system". When I called Jeep, they had not seen that yet and asked me to bring it in. My appointment isnt until next week. I replaced the battery in my key fob even though the vehicle is 2 months old. The light and error were still there. later I went back to my car and the light and error was still there so I pushed the button to just to turn the car on but not start it to run (push button without pushing brake) and it's like the car reset itself. the light and error are gone. I will keep an eye on it of course but just wanted to let anyone know who experiences this problem what worked for me. It's not anywhere in the manual.

Took mine in today and they are ordering me a new key. They told me it has something to do with the key so they just replaced it. They also told me that it'll go away with the new one.

We had ours in twice for this. 1st time they said there was a software update but when we got the car home, the message came back. It was good for only 2 starts of the car - their test after the update and our drive home.

We just got it back today and it seems to be fixed. They worked with corporate and found high resistance in one of the wires. They strung a wire outside the harness to bypass the one with high resistance. However, having worked in electronics, I am doubtful of high resistance wiring but it has held up for 6 starts so far.

Mine did this 5 days after purchase. Granted it's a 2015 version, and it now 2016. Changed the key I was using and it went away. Not sure, plan on taking it in in a couple of weeks. Anyone get a straight answer from Jeep as to what the issue is? Battery in the Key, wires, new key?

Thanks,
Joy

Service Keyless ¿

Had my 1st service light pop up after this morning's run, as I got in my Rene, it said service keyless entry, drove away, restarted, still on. Drove like normal, got breakfast, drove home. Gonna go see if its still on in a minute, but this isnt the 1st time Ive had the keyfob get a little damp from condensation from my running jacket pocket. I know Ive seen my keyfob more damp before and had no issues prior... but never heard of this before..

Took my Jeep in today for this and they did a software update to correct this problem. I got some codes but cant find any info on them.

Code went away

I also asked them about the Service count down mine now says service within 930 miles. I asked them and they have no idea what I was talking about. They think that is when you change the oil. I told them there is a separate indicator for that. I asked 3 dealers about what needs done and they are all clueless. They did nothing about that. I was in a hurry so I am not worried about it right now.

Problems with Passive Entry System

I was loving my new Jeep Renegade that I purchase in March until this week. I got a "service passsive entry system" message along with a yellow light warning. The dealership has had my car since Monday and this is Friday and they still cannot fix my car. Anyone had this problem and had their dealership fix it.

Just started giving me the same error today at just under 300 miles. I'll try a few suggestions noted here and then it's off to the dealer.

Just dropped mine off at the dealer which will need it for a couple days.? Of course they say they've never seen this one before. In the mean time they're covering a Charger rental, fun but a real gas guzzler.
