I have the cold weather group. I have noticed that when its cold the heated seats and steering wheel automatically come on. Is there a way to stop this from happening ? I can't see any menu in Uconnect to stop this.

Nope. You are just going to have to get used to a warm seat and steering wheel.

There probably is a way via the OBD2 port...

I'm not sure if there is a VCDS(Vag-com) equivalent for Fiat/Chrysler. But if there is I'm sure it could be shut off.

But a dealer should be able to.

I have remote start and Uconnect 5.0 and there is no way to do this. I have a feeling that Uconnect 6.5 allows this. The manual should be more explicit.

I checked in the Media Manual for UConnect 5.0 and it states in the settings main menu the following:
Auto-On Comfort — If Equipped
When this feature is selected, the driver’s heated and/or
ventilated seats and heated steering wheel (if equipped)
are activated based on the outside temp. To make your
selection, press the “Off”, “Remote Start”, or “All Starts”
buttons on the touchscreen. (All Starts is functional with
remote start or key start.) Press the “Back Arrow” button
on the touchscreen to return to the previous screen.

Uconnect 5.0 is also used in the Jeep Cherokee and other FCA products. Unfortunately the menu option you describe is not in the Jeep Renegade. Thanks for the reply Kathleen. Maybe you can suggest to marketing that they have a consistent menu system for all vehicles that use Uconnect 5.0 to eliminate the confusion.

Does anyone know how to turn off the heated steering wheel once it has been turned on automatically? Mine will not respond to the pushbutton.

Pushbutton does work fine normally - so I think it is a software issue.

The heated seats work fine, and do respond to the pushbutton even when turned on automatically.

If you cannot turn it off by the switch I would say it is a software issue when they turn on automatically. It looks like they ignore the switch when it is cold outside.

Issue with heated Steering Wheel??

Hey all

My Trailhawk with passive go seems to have a weird issue with the heated seat.

I have the leather package with includes the equivalent of the cold weather package. When I start the car and the temperate is below 41 degrees, it turns on the heated seats, defroster, and wheel as expected. This is the precise reason I got the packages I did and love this feature.

BUT!! .....

If the heated steering wheel is turned on automatically I cannot shut it off! The seat and defroster can be turned off after the car has started but the wheel can't.

For example: let's say I remote start the car. Let it turn a few minutes. Press unlock. Climb in the car. Press the start / run button. Put vehicle in drive. Drive. The wheel is on, but cannot be turned off!

Or let's say I just unlock the car, climb in, and start the car. The cold weather options all turn on as supposed to, but the wheel can't be turned off even when not remote started.

Anyone else with this issue?

I am having the exact same issue! What model / options do you have?

I have a Trailhawk with the 6.5 uconnect, leather group (with cold weather group equivalent)

I don't have the Renegade but rather the Limited Cherokee model with similar features. You would need to go to your temperature settings on the display panel and deactivate the heated steering wheel icon. This function would be repeated every time it gets cold out and don't want to touch a hot steering wheel.

Hopefully this works on your model.

well I don't believe the wheel can be turned on and off via the uconnect screen. It's enabled and disabled via a push button in the Climate control area.

There are no TSBs released for the heated steering wheel feature not turning off. I would definitely recommend a trip to the dealership to have this diagnosed. Please feel free to reach out to me for assistance in scheduling an appointment.

If you have Uconnect 6.5 you have the options to shut this off. My dealer is putting this problem into some FCA problem system since it looks like somebody messed up on this. Hopefully we will eventually have a Uconnect 5.0 update that can address this issue.

Some engineer should be shown the door over this in my opinion. He should follow the guy that determined that most of the Renegade colors do not have paint sticks available yet.

I am actually sitting at my dealer right now. The service manager is saying that it cannot be turned off and this it is hard programmed to shut off after 80 minutes.

Supposedly there is a setting to turn it off, but they didn't believe me when I said I don't think there is. After they buff out the scratches on the door, they are going to look through the settings.

I believe I will end up in the same boat as you.

This is a big problem for me as not only can I not turn off the heated steering wheel but I also can not turn off the heated seat! Buttons do not light up and are unresponsive. However, it seems to be an intermittent problem as sometimes it works fine meaning it auto-ons the steering wheel and seat heat but the buttons light up and I can toggle them off when I want. Drove an hour with the heated seats on and I was friggin hot!
