longitudinal rails

those are the rails that go from the front to the back on either side. those are the rails that you attach crossbars to. those are the rails that are exactly the same as the jeep oem ones. chrysler is making the kit and it is not available yet. mopar part # 82214962. the kit is coming with rails end caps screws and screw caps. all needed to install it. no you don't have to drill into your roof the mounts are there. sure you will have to get through the black plastic strip or they may include a different strip. call your dealer and ask them for that part. plus they don't know when they will. unless they know more than my dealer did.

PerryCraft crossbars not wide enough

I picked a style of Perrycraft on Amazon:

It stated that it would fit.

I went to dry fit the crossbars and they missed by nearly 6 inches.

I have since returned them to Amazon.

On a related note...I went to my local dealer because I found Thule rails and crossbars that were supposedly specific to my Sport model. I asked the parts guy about what I found.

He did a little research, and told me that rails can't be mounted to the Sport model due to side-head airbags.

I do know I have seen Sport models with rails and crossbars though, so I'm confused now.

Cheers

Search for after factory roof rails continue

OK, now I'm looking for a rack solution for my Sport before the kayak season begins. Seems like I will need to drill in Tracks sold by Thule and Yakima. Then will need to add the various parts to make the racks attach to the rail/Track. Been quoted about $150 US for the Tracks but now need to find a roof schematic to insure I drill in the right place. Any ideas how to secure this information anybody?

Roof Rails

these are 3 different part numbers for roof rails. it is on the mopar site. not sure which is which as i'm not paying $430.00 a piece. mopar part #.
Part # 5VX99LS1AA
Part # 5VY03LS1AA
Part # 5VX95LXHAA
Looks like they are down in price to $293-$311 each now. No images or descriptions on which part number I would need to order for my 2015 4x4 Sport. The funny thing is I just got it back from the dealer today and asked about the rails. They told me Chrysler didn't offer them and never would. I like my Jeeps but I can't stand the dealers.

The next question is how difficult are they to install and how much would a dealer charge to do it (if they even would).

No Roof Rails from FCA for Renegade Sport Customers

This just in from FCA regarding roof rails for the Renegade Sport...I think this is my last FCA vehicle. smh

"Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a part # for the side roof
rails for a Jeep Renegade as this 2015 Jeep Renegade Sport could be
damaged if the side rails are installed. It is too much of a risk of
customer and vehicle occupant safety. In the past, we have had cases
where customers mistakenly drilled too deep into the roof panel and
damaged the side curtain airbags, headliner and wiring."

I'm pretty sure there should be many options for adding side rails.

However, anyone have any knowledge of the Madness Autoworks cross bars? They appeared to me aero bars, low profile and sub $200...

Fits everything I'm looking for! (And not quite willing to go eBay cheap)

Uh, I bought my rails from car-parts.com, an auto-reclamation search site, and installed them yesterday. Perfect bolt-on experience. $150 for the pair. Where do they get drilling involved?

Did yours install into existing holes? Were they under the black trim that runs the length of the roof on each side?

I asked about this at my dealer the other day and they gave me the same lame answer as the rep at Mopar that you had to drill the roof to install them and they were too scared to try it.

I've been looking into this for a little while.

I did find a thread by someone on another renegade forum and I saved the part #'s he had used. Someone else on instagram also installed a system using a different brand, and I have those #'s too!

Thule:
Fitkit 3080
460R foot pack
ARB53 aero bars

Yakima:
Y00223 landing pads
Y00214 control towers
Y0408 48" round bars

I priced the Yakima on etrailer.com and it came out to around $300 for all of it. I'll be doing this soon!

Hope this helps!

Roof RAILS - What Gives

First off, I will be the new owner of a New manual 4x4 sport on the 2nd! I'm even traveling to Idaho to pick it up as it was the cheapest around. 20,500 out the door (after paying California's tax) with the Bluetooth/back up camera package and some other package having to do with air and power. Anyways....

What gives with the roof Rails? I want to install roof rails on my sport but even though I have searched this forum and gathered as much information as I can, it still seems to be confusing. Here is what I know...

The sports do come with the necessary brackets for an easy installation.

The roof rails are EXPENSIVE if ordered from a dealer.

An aftermarket DIY option exists for cross bars without rails

Mopar is supposedly working on a kit, but I have yet to see a description of this kit, whether it is actually the rails and not a rack, or if it's available anywhere.

Last option I have seen is to check junk yards or car-parts.com but its very rare to find them.

My question is why the **** is this such an issue or so expensive to get such a simple addition to the vehicle? Am I missing something here? Is there an option I don't see? Let me know if so. Thanks for reading.

P.S. I am stoked to get my Renegade and prove my friends wrong (who all drive 4wd trucks) that this thing will keep up.

Also bear in mind, the automobile industry's entire method is to use package-groups and trim-groups to reduce the choices to the customer. Want some particular feature? You have to spend all of this other money to get that feature by buying other features that you may not care about.

I would have been happy for a Trailhawk's suspension, bumpers, and 4x4 system on a Sport or otherwise with 16" steel wheels. Unfortunately that's not an option.

Depending on what they have in/under their trucks, that may be easier said than done. Just keep that in mind.
Stock TDR Tacoma and stock Ford Raptor. Of course you can't compare these vehicles to the renegade but I figured I stand a decent chance of being able to follow them most places after the lift kit, bigger tires and maxpower ECU. I JUST NEED THE DARN ROOF RAILS
